OpenID Support

Actually, sooner rather than later would be good because I signed up for identi.ca with my OpenId and can't figure out a way to add my identi.ca info to ping.fm now.

I'm in the same boat. Can't link Ping.fm to identi.ca because I use OpenId too.

I'm having the same problem hooking up to my identi.ca account.

jgill, you posted the appropriate link. Specifically, these are the instructions I followed (as per Sandy Kemsley):

Just to clarify, I do the following steps:
1. Logout from identi.ca
2. Click Login
3. Click "Lost or forgotten password?"
4. Provide my screen name or email address (I've tried both) and click Recover.

identi.ca had a glitch in this system, but it finally worked for me and I was able to add identi.ca to Ping.fm.

But how is this different from just registering a new account at identi.ca(and then adding openid account to it)? The whole point was to avoid creating yet another account...

Tabrez, until Ping.fm gets onboard with OpenID, it's a workaround to give us the ability to do what we want.

So as a workaround, instead of going through all the hoops to recover password, one can just select a password by going to Settings -> Password section on Identi.ca.

Well, ReJaw has been added as a service to ping.fm. ReJaw uses OpenID and does NOT provide an option for OpenID users to get a password. I've reported this as a problem to ReJaw, but it is another case where ping.fm really needs to start supporting OpenID. In this case, there isn't a workaround.
