Ping.fm Duplicating All Links
Ping.fm keeps duplicating the links I paste in, and putting the second link in brackets. This doesn't change when URL shortening is off.

Inappropriate? Can you link to a status where this is happening?
-
Inappropriate?Sure! An example would be @ http://pownce.com/ablyler/notes/3274704/
I have been cleaning up my posts by hand (delete post and re-post) in twitter and facebook, but I have not touched my pownce account. -
Inappropriate? Is it possible that my IM client (pidgin) sending HTML links to the GTalk bot might be the cause?
-
Inappropriate?Yeah, I guess it's possible. I am using Pidgin and the GTALK bot and am not having any problems. Can you try posting a link from the dashboard, email or a different bot and see if you are having the same problem?
-
Inappropriate?I think the problem is when I used iChat. It looks like the way iChat formats the message may be the problem. http://tinyurl.com/6h8n5j Would it be possible to change the parser the GTALK Ping.fm bot uses to account for this?
-
Inappropriate?I don't think that it is possible. Submit a formal request with your information to: http://ping.fm/contact/.
-
Inappropriate?I have submitted a formal request and have posted to my blog the details of the issue as I understand it. http://www.andyblyler.com/blog/2008/0...
-
Inappropriate?I've tested on several clients (including iChat) and have not been able to replicate the issue. Granted, nowhere on our systems, parsers, posting mechanisms do we incorporate the use of [ ] anywhere. Check your client settings for plugins that might alter URLs unexpectedly as well as the client settings itself. Making a special client-case for parsing certain, and seemingly rare posting conditions doesn't seem like a good idea considering how linear the bot system is.
Let me know if you draw any conclusions on this.

Inappropriate? In the tcpdump that I included in my blog post (http://www.andyblyler.com/blog/2008/0...) it looks like the body tag is included twice. The first body tag contains the brackets, the second one appears to be the html version. Is it possible that the GTALK bot parser is looking at the first body tag and ignoring the second?
-
Inappropriate?Another thing that might be good to note, is that I only have this problem with the GTALK bot with iChat. When I use the AIM bot with iChat this issue does not exist.
-
Inappropriate?I am using the GTALK bot and am not experincing this problem. Just FYI
-
Are you using iChat? I am using iChat on Mac OS X 10.5.4. -
Inappropriate?I use iChat and am having the same problem.

Inappropriate?Checking into a possible way to filter iChats bug.

Inappropriate?I have the same problem using ping.fm (via iChat) do you have a work around?
