Ping.fm should monitor other sites for updates.

If Ping.fm were to monitor other sites for updates a number of improvements could be made to the service. Two the come to mind immediately are the ability to update Ping.fm based of updates to other sites. For example, I updated my status on Facebook and Ping.fm passed it to Twitter.

Second, duplicates could be avoided a lot more easily, with Ping.fm first checking a service to make sure it doesn't already have that update before sending it through. Because of the large number of sites that I use sometimes a site will receive duplicate updates from different sources.

For Example: site A updates B, C, and D, but site B is also set to pass updates to site D. This results in site D getting the same update twice, once from A and once from D. I actually have much more complex update cycles than this, but it gets the idea across.

This could also help if a message sent to Ping.fm got duplicate resulting in Ping.fm being told to pass the update on, twice. Ping.fm would only update sites that hadn't updated from the first one.
