Ping form with URL prefix (*) results in 404 error

On the ping form, where you put in the type of ping and the URL as well as description (NOT front page): If you put a * in front of the URL as instructed, it sends out the correct URL, BUT the ping form also redirects to a blank page with the word 404 on it, apparently an error. Please fix this ASAP.
