Ping Later?
Is there a "Ping Later" similar to TweetLater that would allow me to schedule Ping posts?

Inappropriate? We do read them all but it's hard to reply to all messages on here, especially when the same questions are asked multiple times in different threads.

This has obviously been a highly requested feature, but I do not quite understand the point of it. Do you want to simply schedule a few messages to send over the next few hours? We could easily add that. I would be against any sort of recurring schedule though since we condemn spamming.

Here is one reason for the ability to schedule messages. I exchange recipes with many folks - some on Twitter, LInked-In, and other social media sites. I collect recipes and tips and have someone format them for me. When they are ready I send a notice via Ping.fm to all my social media sources but I do not want to send 10 or 20 messages at once but want to space them out over several days. So having the abiity to load them at one sitting and then have them delived over days when they would be more likely to be received by my friends would be a benefit and time saver.
And as an aside, if it is believed that Ping will not be used for commercial purposes some rethinking is needed. At this time I would guess that more the 60% of the messages I get on social network sites (many from Ping.fm) are marketing or sales related. There are a number of Tweeple who are notoriously product focused.

Updates can be timed to suit “followers” in various time zones. -
Inappropriate?Adam, thanks for that awesome response! I'm impressed.
The point of social media is to keep in contact with people for what they come to you for. Humor, tips, insights. There are now hundreds of gurus out there on how to remain relevant in the new social media. Nearly all of them are saying you should Ping your people two to five times per day.
Also, they will ALL tell you that your Ping messages should rarely if EVER be about products or selling. That may be a natural byproduct of having creating a fun group of people who look forward to your next Tweet, or whatever.
Here's one of the best advice people I've read on the subject: http://www.bookmarket.com/50WaystoTwe...
Having said all of that, I have found that I get comments back throughout the day to the various quotes, inspiration, and humor or trivia I send out plus my personal goings on.
SInce about half or more of these Pings are simply forwarded copy from famous people, it would free up my day and mind to be able to set those kinds of Pings to go out on a scheduled basis.
I COMPLETELY agree with you that if schedules are set to sell products or spam that would be very negative to recipients. Maybe there is no solution to be able to do one and prevent the other, but I thought it was worth asking.
Most of all, I'm delighted to know that you guys are here and do hear our comments.
Best regards,

Inappropriate?I am a hyper social nerd with tons of activity and sometimes this pisses people off. so i like to slow down by sending future updates in time (around 1 hour or so).
On facebook, a lot of my friends demanded this because i literally took over their homepage!!
Plus, sometimes i dont like to update facebook instantly because i want my status to be read by my friends, so sending the next status update a few minutes later will guarantee that people will read it!

Thanks for the link. I currently using TweetLater but TweetLater doesn't allow to use Ping.fm services with a free account. PingLater seams down for long. So, is Ping.fm plan to add scheduled post? (Sorry if my English is not good) -
I’ve put together this quick summary of why Ping.fm users might want to use some sort of “ping later” feature:
- If you don’t want to bombard your followers/readers/subscribers with too many updates over too short a period of time. Space the updates out over hours or days.
- If your audience is in a different time zone to you, or spread out over a number of time zones.
- If your target service is down (e.g. a DDoS attack?), a service like Ping.fm could store and forward once the target service is back up again.
- If you are planning to be absent from your desk/computer (for a weekend or a week’s holiday), but your readers expect updates during that period nonetheless.
I had a careful look at both HelloTxt (http://hellotxt.com/), and the absence of a “ping later” feature was the sole reason why I selected HelloTxt over Ping.fm.
Thanks for taking the trouble to point out the 3rd-party products that would allow one to ping later, but I’m sure most users would prefer to have this facility as part of the core product, rather than having to use another external product. -
Inappropriate?PingLater.fm is down and once again I'm thinking that this is an important feature for those of us who do a lot of online research and post interesting links, using twitter and status updates more like micro-blogging (rather than "i'm drinking coffee right now" type status updates).
I collect dozens of interesting stories and links on clean energy, green tech, open source, and other interest areas of mine that my followers want to read, so I need to send a few at a time, maybe 3 times a day, rather than all at once and taking over people's activity streams on various networks...

Inappropriate?PingLater.fm is still down, so I'd been looking around for something similar (and free!). I found the article linked below to be helpful. Using Outlook's "delayed delivery" option and your private @ping.fm email address, you can make your own scheduler.
