Posting via cell phone not working
Nothing is posting via my cell phone, either by txt to the 918 number or by MMS e-mail to my posting e-mail. However, I can post fine with the Web interface. I have combed the help wikis and read and reread the "Services/Tools" information. I am on T-Mobile.
Also, when I posted a photo to FB with my posting e-mail via the Web interface, it posted twice in my news feed, both as a *link* to the ping.fm hosting site and as a *picture* in my "Ping.fm Photos" album.
The second issue isn't a huge problem, but the first issue is my chief complaint. Posting to multiple social-networking services via my cell phone was the primary reason I wanted to use ping.fm. If I can't get it to work, I'm back to Twitter --> FB --> FF.

Inappropriate?Double check that the number you entered in http://ping.fm/sms/ is correct. I looked in the SMS log and we have not received any SMS from the number you have in there now. If it is correct, make sure you are sending TO the right number.
-
Inappropriate?Oh, and for the Facebook problem, we have a setting at https://ping.fm/facebook/ for "DO NOT update status when a photo is posted"

Thanks... Operator error! -
Inappropriate?Definitely posting to the right number. I have checked and triple-checked that... As for the number I entered, it is my phone number, typed in in XXXXXXXXXX format (area code, no "1," no dashes). Is there a certain way in which it is supposed to be entered? And when I hit "Submit," should it try to send me a confirmation? If so, I never got one.
I’m thankful for the quick reply

Inappropriate? It is in the correct format. One thing I just thought of is if you attach a picture it will not go through our SMS system. Are you able to send SMS to other T-mobile customers?
-
Inappropriate?Yes, I txt all the time... Just sent a txt to another user just to be absolutely sure, and he got it. No, am not sending pix to the SMS number per the warning on the ping.fm/sms instructions...

Inappropriate?I think we are at the mercy of the SMS gods on this one. We receive thousands of SMS a day from people across the country, including the 321 area code and other t-mobile users. I do know (from a previous life working for sprint) that SMS is never "guaranteed delivery" and can take up to 72 hours. This may seem weird, but try powering off your phone and back on (you won't believe how much random stuff this actually fixes). If that doesn't work, It must be something on t-mobile's side considering we also use them.
I’m unsure

Inappropriate?I have restarted my phone several times. :( Was ping.fm supposed to send me a confirmation txt when I entered my phone number and hit "Submit"? If it did, I never got one. So I'm thinking my phone number might not have "taken" and is not linked to my account...
I’m sad

Sorry I didn't address that question before. No, we do not send a confirmation SMS, we just store your number and wait for you to send us messages. Since we only receive and never send out SMS, there is really no need to confirm your number. The only way to know it's working is when your message shows up where you want it to or on http://ping.fm/recent/ -
Inappropriate? No, none of my txts have ever shown up there. Again, it does work when I use the Web interface. But nothing from my cell has appeared there. :( Thanks for the quick replies.

Perhaps ping.fm *should* send a txt message to the number to confirm? Other services do this, like an activation code...

Inappropriate?dude put in the email that ping.fm gives you in the phone number field of an sms message and it'll post. it's under the tools menu as email
I’m relieved
