Stripping of hashtags to certain services
I'd like to see the option to strip hashtags out of status updates and micro blog posts to particular services. I might want an #ubuntu tag in my Twitter feed, but it wouldn't make sense in my Facebook status, for example.

Inappropriate?Funny you bring this up, we were just working on this feature yesterday. Should be ready soon.
I’m #ish

Inappropriate?Awesome, glad to hear it! Can't wait for it to go live :)
I'm assuming that it'll just appear as a checkbox under the service settings?
I’m #awesome

Inappropriate?Just noticed that this seems to have gone live under the Default Settings area; any chance of adding it for specific services? I want to include hashtags when my post is sent to Twitter, but strip them from the same post being sent to Facebook and GTalk, for example.
I’m confident

Inappropriate?Aah, ok, that works, I guess, how come you couldn't just check for tags in the post text, and remove the # based on the service?
Not that I'm complaining too much, at least there's a solution in place, just wondering why you chose that particular method. -
Inappropriate? If you use it that way it will work as you expect. we just added some flexibility. sometimes a tagged word is part of your message, and sometimes it's just a tag. this allows it to be used both ways.

Hi, Adam. I'm using the ping.fm dev api from the Short2Ping wordpress plugin. In my ping.fm default settings, I have tagging turned on and my default method is status updated. When I make postings with # hash tags in them, they are showing up on my facebook status update wall when I would expect them to be removed since facebook doesn't support tagging like that. Comments? My ping.fm username is diablodale -
we will look into it. -
still not working as documented in paragraph 1 at http://pingfm.pbworks.com/Posting-Tags. The hashtags are not being removed when posted to facebook
repro:
1) log into ping.fm
2) setup account to distribute to facebook: status updated, microblogs, photos
3) setup defaults to: post tags, notify me for new image
4) go to dashboard
5) enter "My post will be about #cars #planes and #automobiles
6) go to facebook
7) view your profile stream
result:
a posting with the hashtags in them
expected:
hastags removed as documented at para 1 of http://pingfm.pbworks.com/Posting-Tags -
Inappropriate?PROBLEM: hash tags are getting stripped from Brightkite posts via email group posting to a micro-blog, direct m.ping.fm posting to @bk, and I am sure others. BrightKite updates Twitter for me for micro-blog updates that I cannot send to Twitter directly.
from documentation: "Sites that don't support hashtagging or generic tags will receive the message as-is."
I’m bummed
-
Inappropriate?I can't see any problems at the moment: You enter your post, then add @t on the end, then any tags you want, separated by commas, for example, if I send the following to Ping.fm: "Looking at the GetSatisfaction Ping.fm page @t GetSatisfaction, help"
It appears on Twitter as "Looking at the #GetSatisfaction Ping.fm page #help".
And on Facebook as "Looking at the GetSatisfaction Ping.fm page"
Any words after @t that are in the post are tagged, and any that aren't, are tagged after the post.
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?Hi, Rohaq. Hashtags, not the @t method. Hashtags are failing the documented behavior.
