Support for Zooomr Zipline
Would be great it Ping.fm support for Zooomr Zipline (www.zooomr.com)
Zooomr has a good status notification service. One advantage is that you can reply to notifcations by email and they will be added to the thread.

Inappropriate?Completely agree with this. Good call Andrew! Just need to have Kristopher Tate of Zooomr connect with the Ping.fm guys. I think the technical side (connecting the APIs) should be a breeze.
I’m also optimistic.

Inappropriate?I'd really like to see this added.
-
Inappropriate?Great. Thanks! I added it and just posted my first ping: http://www.zooomr.com/andrewshuttlewo...
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?Am I crazy? I don't see it anywhere.
-
Inappropriate?I don't get it either. Am I supposed to be looking at my profile on ping.fm or on zooomr?
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate? We took it off. They didn't want us integrating.
-
What the hell, why? -
Yes why? -
Can you tell us who at Zooomr we should complain to about this? -
Inappropriate?Zooomr is being uncooperative in integration. They have passed up a great opportunity to make their site much more accessible, along with free advertisement to a large user base of avid social networking people that would be interested in signing up for their service. We have a system in place to work flawlessly as it is now, but they insist that we use their API which requires users to login every time they use it (in 60 minute intervals). This is not compatible with our posting methods.
For example, If you were using one of our IM Bots, we would have to store your message, send an IM back with a special link for you to click on, you'd have to login to zooomr with that link, then reply to the bot saying you're ready to post the message you sent before. If you send an sms over a phone that is not capable of web browsing, we can not update your Zooomr status at all. I am not even sure how integration would work if you were using the google gadget, facebook app, and especially our API.
We were willing to cooperate with them, but have almost given up all interest in this. If you want Zooomr integration you'll have to convince them.
I’m not against integration.

Inappropriate?Adam, that is not the case at all. Maybe you should actually implement our method and then see how that works.
The token you get from our system lasts forever until the user kills access to it. Not doing that way would be stupid and ridiculous. Setting the token to expire for an hour is an advanced feature -- not the default.
"As an advanced feature, Authentication Tokens can be time sensitive in that when a user authenticates against the application they can choose a timeframe for the token to expire. Expiration can be set to One (1) Hour or Never."

Instead of pointing fingers and making it sound like it's our problem, you should first look at our ToS and how you illegally accessed our servers on behalf of other users.
We're all for working with you guys, but we don't work with people that childishly point fingers. Not a good way to start a growing company.
You haven't even started the API process with us by signing up for a commercial usage key. Everyone here should bug Sean and Adam to fill-out our form so that we can get the ball rolling.

that sounds reasonable kris.... -
Kristopher, you've rightly complained about ping.fm bitching, then you've bitched in response.
It seems like both ping.fm and zooomr are on the same page, so why not wipe the slate clean, and take a fresh look at the integration? -
well said callum. good idea! -
Kris, do you throttle apps by IP? Once we get this working, will there be a generous amount of publish actions for us as we are known for generating a lot of traffic on other sites (FriendFeed had to raise their limit twice for us.) -
Inappropriate?I feel a bit of a stake in this as I originally posted the suggestion. It's a shame that it's got into a bit of a slinging match. I'm happy to try to moderate it both parties are interested.
I've been involved in other discussions and understand that Kristopher wants to avoid the situation of users giving out their passwords which I agree is not ideal.
Adam - did you try the API method? If there are issues I'm sure Kristopher would be willing to address them. If it's an issue outside all our control I'm sure we'd all understand to. We're all part of the same social media evolution.
I’m hoping we can make this work for everyone.

Inappropriate?I think people are getting the wrong idea here - this is a really simple problem to solve.
Ping.fm aren't using Zooomr's authentication API which works just like Flickr's and which I assume Ping.fm currently support in the correct way (i.e. via tokens, not passwords).
* Zooomr want them to use the authentication API
* Ping.fm read a relatively small sub-clause about how users can decide how long tokens last (which is exactly the same as Flickr) and decide it's entirely impossible
* Zooomr point out that this is a relatively small sub-clause and should be fine as it's currently set to "Never"
* Then there's some legal gubbins which also needs to be done because at some point someone probably wants to make some cash out of it. (yawn)
So come on, stop moaning and make stuff do stuff!!
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate? We applied fo the commercial key the instant the link was provided. We're researching the best option to egt this up and running.
Kris, no one was pointing fingers, but I think this is a good opportunity to get it done so everyone in here is happy.

Sean, you really do rock! Thanks for responding and making the effort! -
Thanks for the update Sean. Glad to see this is moving forward. -
