Inappropriate?I'm seeing the same issue. Here's my phone's sent messages page:

And here's ping.fm's recent posts page:
I’m waiting for unicode to be truly universally used.

Inappropriate? Are you using US or int'l sms?
-
I'm using the US number. -

Inappropriate?I checked the logs and verified that we did receive both of your messages with the @ and not the $. We receive hundreds of sms with the @ and $ correctly. While analyzing more, I noticed both of your messages were exactly 140 characters. If you send that exact same message to another person with a different model of phone do they see it with an @? Have you sent other messages to Ping.fm with a $ that had the same problem?
I’m puzzled

Inappropriate?I don't remember sending other messages with the US dollar sign via SMS, so I can't say if it's a new or old issue. I tried sending a message from my LG Flare (Virgin Mobile USA - LX165) to my email and there was no altering of the message.
I tried sending two updates shorter than 140 characters, and they seemed to work.

Actually, I just tried sending the exact update from the same phone, and it works now: http://twitter.com/The_PHP_Jedi/statu...
Could've been a hiccup or something, although it's still quite strange. :/
Today my phone tried to trick me as well (unrelated issue)... it must think it's smarter than me! :P
I’m amused at my phone's attempts to make a fool of me today,
