Updates via text message
Ping.fm is an excellent service. It would be great if we could update our status via text message. I know it's expensive, but it would be much easier than waiting for a browser to load.

Inappropriate?while it isn't the most efficient solution, it works for me since i'm signed onto AIMTXT from my phone 24/7..

what i do is, when i'm signed onto AIMTXT from my phone, i shoot ping.fm an instant message through text, and it updates all of my accounts.

Great workaround bface! I have a Helio Ocean which has all the major IM's and this works great for me. Thanks! =) -
Inappropriate?I have GTalk on my phone and use the gtalk bot, it works nicely. I know other providers have instant messaging platforms for cellular devices as well.

Inappropriate? The workarounds are good for people with data services but I only have text messaging and want to be able to send a text to a phone number and have it update my accounts with that text message.

i only have text messaging.. no data plan at all, you dont need data services to send text messages to a shortcode (what aimTXT uses) -
Inappropriate?so you type: send ping.fm I'm doing this or that. It then sends "I'm doing this or that" to ping.fm? I imagine you must have AIM first and have added ping.fm to your contacts?

Inappropriate?ouch, I tried it with Cricket and it does not work. Cricket does not do short texts, it comes back and says they are not participating in this event.
