use links to Flickr if integrated with Ping.fm
The Flickr integration is great, but why point the 'ping.fm' link to the Ping storage, why not point the link to Flickr instead?

Inappropriate? Not a bad idea. Might make this a setting for those who sync the other services. Thanks for the feedback.

Inappropriate?I third this one... Though I think it should be expanded to "if service x with photo uploading capabilities is added to a users account, use link to that when sending an alert"... We'd need some way to say "I want flickr links versus myspace links" but I think this would be a huge help to users... plus, less heavy lifting on ping.fm's part, why recreate the wheel when flickr etc have already done it a few times over...

Inappropriate?Yes, I would rather my my status updates were linked to Flickr instead of ping.fm.
The Ping.fm page you guys set up is not at all like twitterpic. It lacks social features. It's vacant. There's nothing to do.
If the status updates were linked to the posted flickr photo more people would see my work on flickr and I'd probably meet new people in the process.
I noticed photos are uploaded to MySpace during this process. Oddly the link still goes to that barren ping.fm page. Though, it's nice that photos are uploaded to MySpace.
Having experience with the flickr API myself, I imagine this would require two calls. The first to upload the photo and the second to get the URL. Or do you get the URL in the first call after upload? I never used the API to submit content.
I understand it won't be easy but this would REAAAALY be a great feature. Right now that barren photo page is kind of alienating. It's a dead end! You can't even comment with your twitter account!
Anyway, ping.fm is awesome. Just trying to offer suggestions instead of being just another "me too".
I'm thinking an elegant way to handle this is to have separate defaults for photo posts. Give it it's own page so as not to be confused with the other defaults, And on that page have an option:
Link my status updates to the the following service:
(Note: Choosing other than Ping.Fm will add a delay to status updates.)
Ping.Fm (default)
Flickr
MySpace
Photobucket
And those four options are radio buttons, not checkboxes. I imagine having multiple photo hosts would also increase how long it takes. I only have photos uploaded to MySpace and Flickr.
Please respond!
I’m Hoping Sean gives this another look.
