Web link changes to a Ping.fm link, why?
Why is it that when I put in a link on my status, for instance, "Your infant or toddler can swim. http://infantswim.com", it changes the link to http://ping.fm/gpGvI. The second link works, but I think more people would trust the first link. This could be an idea to have the original link, instead of a made-up link. Don't you think?

Inappropriate? The original reason was to cut down on the number of characters so longer urls would fit in a microblog. It's also a very handy feature instead of having to shorten it yourself before submitting. If the url is already shorter than the new one it will not convert it..
We have discussed and decided on an easy method to allow posting the full url but we have not implemented it yet. Lots of things in the queue :P

I also have a related question that I just added. If you are going to use a redirect service, why not use HTTP code 301 instead of 303? -
Inappropriate?this is very annoying for me, because i'd like to share flickr photos via plurk using my iphone.
plurk supports flickr urls and turns them into keen thumbnails. since the iphone has no cut and paste, the easiest way to share a photo on plurk would be to email the photopage link from safari to ping.
but ping coverts the url and kills the cool thumbnail making and that makes me sad. -
Inappropriate? This is actually on the list of future updates.

Inappropriate?I don't mind the shortened URL, but my link is no longer clickable when it goes into blogger.com. Is this something wrong on bloggers end? Possibly an issue with the template? Or is this a ping.fm thing?
I’m confused
