Won't update Google Talk status
I've set up my account, but no matter what I try I can't get Ping.fm to update my Google Talk status with my posts. According to http://ping.fm/blog/expanding-family-... it should be possible.
It shows up in my recent posts list as if it's been updated just fine, and my login is correct, but it never changes it. I'm logged into the GTalk client at the time, if that makes a difference. There doesn't appear to be any error anywhere.

I think I've tried it while using GMail, as well.

Not sure what the problem is exactly, but clearing your custom status messages seems to fix it (the option at the bottom of the status dropdown)

Inappropriate?I was having the same problem, and this fix worked for me as well. It'll be interesting to see if the problem comes back and we'll have to reclear the custom messages again. Perhaps they have a queue and once the queue fills up, you can't add any more. That would suck.

Is there any way to fix this properly though?

Well, I just did it now for the first time after finding this. Previously, I had a *lot* of saved statuses though.
