Dock icon always showing
Since the latest update Skitch did always appear on the dock. I had to edit the plist file as described here:
http://getsatisfaction.com/rescuetime...
This made the dock icon disappear, but there is another annoying issue. I am always asked whether I *really* want to open that program on launch, as it was downloaded from the internet. That message should only show once, not always.

Inappropriate?Skitch has a setting to only show in the menubar. Go into preferences and choose "show skitch in: ... (o) menubar"
Unsure about the warning... are you sure it was running the same copy each time? -
Inappropriate?I suspect the warning is coming either from the OS or the Browser.
-
Inappropriate?I ran the same copy each time for sure.
And the preferences setting didn't work. That's why I had to edit the plist file. -
Inappropriate?Hi Daniel... How did you update to the new version? Did you use the updater or download the .dmg again?
Could you please move Skitch from Applications folder to the Trash, then download the .dmg again from here: http://plasq.com/downloads - then drag to Applicatons folder - then delete the .dmg
Please let me know how you go! -
Inappropriate?I always used the updater in the past. Now I did as you said and downloaded Skitch from the website.
After restarting the app a few times and playing with the preferences it stays out of the dock. Yay!
But now it does not hide the application window on start.
I’m sad, because one problem replaced the other.
-
Inappropriate? Now it hides again. It also doesn't complain about being a program downloaded from the internet anymore. I didn't do anything. This is so weird.
I’m happy as long as the problem doesn't return.

Inappropriate?I am a mac user, and I use skitch everyday, would be nice you can clear "it's history" when closing like any browser.. Skitch is happy to be in my dock.. open the program, right click and keep in dock.. for windows I am sure its show in menu bar on the right on XP

Inappropriate?I got an auto-update of Skitch yesterday, and ever since then the dock icon is always visible, no matter what I set in the preferences. I will try downloading a fresh copy of the app and see if that helps...
-
Inappropriate?Actually, I did a $ sudo chown -R to my_user of Skitch.app, and now it works. But, I am an admin user, so it would have been nice if Skitch told me about the permissions problem, or, better yet, just asked for my admin password and made the change necessary for me.
