Moving Skitch and keeping personal settings
Hi, I'd like to move an installation of Skitch from one hard drive to another. Long story short I've had to re-install Leopard. Problem is I can't find any preference files associated with Skitch, therefore I lose my history, even tho I've moved over my User/Pictures/Skitch folder. I also lose my custom FTP web post settings. I've searched the whole HD for the keywords "plasq" and "skitch" but all I come up with are the application file and the picture folder.

Inappropriate?Hi Ben,
Sorry to hear you're experiencing this.
Have a look in your user folder>Library>Preferences
There are two files you need to copy there:
com.plasq.skitch.plist
and
com.plasq.skitch.history
These need to go in the same spot in your new computer.
Also, you'll need to copy the Skitch folder in your Pictures directory to your new computer.
You may also need to retype in your Skitch username and password.
This should allow you to keep working where you left off. Let me know if that doesn't work for you!

Inappropriate?Cheers Keith. I'm guessing spotlight excludes that folder from it's search, and I never thought to check there.
I've copied the files over and my personal settings, custom FTP etc, appear to be back but my history is still blank.
I had already done everything else you suggested.
Ben
I’m half way there

Inappropriate?Hi Ben,
Sorry thats not working for you.
Maybe try copying over the files again -- making sure that you've quit Skitch first. Let me know how you go. -
Inappropriate? For anyone who stumbles upon this looking for how to migrate their Skitch files and settings to a new computer, I just followed the instructions (having quit Skitch first) and it worked perfectly.
I’m glad it worked.

Inappropriate? Thanks a lot, Keith, for the tip! It worked for me. Very helpful!
I’m very happy it worked.

Inappropriate?I've done this over and over and it's not working. In the History pane, all I see are tiny little graphics (thumbnails the size of a pinhead); they have labels, but they can't be dragged, dropped, saved, or anything. Help! Does Skitch not work on Snow Leopard? I changed my user name with I clean installed Snow Leopard and then migrated my data over. Is this the problem? The Skitch files are all where they're supposed to be in the Skitch Folder in my Pictures folder, and they correctly open into Skitch.
I’m going out of my mind

Inappropriate?Hi BrooklynGuy,
Sorry for the slow reply, because of an internal email server issue I've only recently been notified of this thread.
Sorry it's not working for you
Skitch works fine in Snow Leopard. But we've since changed the name of those files because of some business changes.
If you had run Skitch once before on your system, if probably created these files and now is referring to them.
##
First, quit Skitch, then in addition to the two com.plasq files, also zip, then delete these files from the same location:
com.skitch.skitch.plist
and
com.skitch.skitch.history
Then copy over the 2 com.plasq files, and then finally launch Skitch.
Skitch will then generate new com.skitch files based on the com.plasq files.
Sorry again for the slow reply, hope that helps
Keith
