Inappropriate?Yes, this certainly seems like a big limitation. Related to this
problemquestion is the way that search works. If I do navigate away from a place, search is still tied to the original location. I would say that the expectation would be that it act as a local search.
What about something like a 'relocate me' button that would reset the location to the wherever the user has centered the map. Ultimately there may be a better solution but something like this might be easy to implement, no?
Thanks for your efforts. -
Inappropriate? We are just finishing up the trimmings on this particular feature, to be included in the 1.4 release. Thanks for your input!

Inappropriate?First, thank you for your great soft !!!!!!
I am actually hesitating to buy a Touch in part due to your application !!
I found it really great
I would rather buy an iPhone but I am not affiliated to the right operator and will be able to change only in 1 year..
(Yesterday I was waiting for an update of the Touch with a GPS but... anyway you know... +_+
Therefore, since Touch does not have GPS I wanted to know if we could use nearby to find stuff at any selected location !
Doing so can alleviate the fact we do not have Wifi everywhere.
It seems it is coming in the 1.4 !! So I am coming at the right time !!!
What would be great is that when entering an itinerary, Nearby proposes to find stuff near your arrival point.
Also, with the "recent" developpement of StreetView.
I thought for people who does not have camera (Touch user for example) the possibility to associate a place with a picture of StreetView (angle saved to face the place of interest) could replace the Photo.
I also noticed that it is impossible to write in Japanese. Do you plan to extend nearby to unicode ?
Thanks !!!!

wow, thanks for the positive feedback. and good news, yes, we are currently working on what we call 'dynamapping' basically it just keeps making API calls back to Platial when you drag the map around, or zoom in or out, it refreshes the markers. No word yet on when we'll be done with 1.4, but i'm guessing within a month. -
Inappropriate? It seems you can write japanese (I saw some annotations title) but I could not have a result doing a research on platial and using japanese.
May be I am doing something wrong sorry !!
I’m a sorry

are you searching in japanese on the iphone app? or on the website? -
Inappropriate? The company that has the apps G-park, G-Level, & G-Spot has made GPS add on for the Touch. I think it will be released this month. I have already pre-ordered one.
There are a lot of places near me that I can lock on to WiFi. Some, sad to say, are unprotected home units. The great thing is that the bar I frequent has their WiFi wide open for the customers. Lot of Macbooks there.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Bill P. -
