Initial iCalPlaxo sync taking forever. What to do?
Initial sync between iCal and Plaxo has been going on since last night (probably over 12 hours), and is still going. Is this normal? If the long sync time is normal, how can I tell how much longer I should wait? If the long sync time is not normal, what should I do to get the sync completed?
My details are as follows. First, my calendar's about 6 years long. Software-wise, I'm running OS 10.4.11, iCal 2.0.5, and Plaxo for Mac 3.10.0 build 635. I've got a standard residential DSL line. LittleSnitch and my Network Activity Monitor report that Plaxo Assistant is uploading/downloading to capi.plaxo.com at about 4 KB/s each way.

Inappropriate?Wow, that's pretty darn slow. With any luck, things have picked up since then. We've released several server enhancements in the past two months and just today we released a new update for the Mac. You should get an update notice in a day or so, but you can grab it today if you like from http://mac.plaxo.com. Drop me a note at drew@plaxo.com if you still have these long sync times. N.B. if your calendar really is that large, do you really need to be syncing the last 6 years of events? Why not just archive your calendar for posterity if you like, and just keep this year's events around. You'll have much better performance, I'm sure.
