About Plazes.com
Plazes is your social web to-go
Share your location, stay connected with friends, let them know where you're at and make upcoming plans, see who's crossing your path and what's happening nearby.
I'd like to be able to set a plaze position by coordinates when there's not an exact address available to enter, typical for landmarks: I tried to enter a beach position but unsuccesfully.
Everytime I am at some plaze I need to enter all data as that plaze is not in the database. Of course, I don't expect to have everything already in, but as a beginning wouldn't it be easier to import the list of points of interests available for every GPS system (and let's say included in Nokia Maps for instance!)? In this way I can just select a plaze from the available ones rather than needing to add it every time.
Any plans to PULL from Fire Eagle? I like all the new location aware stuff, and everyone's partial FE support, but if services don't start updating from FE, it doesn't work so well...
I have the Plazer installed on my Windows Vista laptop and it will not automatically check in. The only way to get it to update my location is to use the manual "Plaze Me" button. Even then when I use the "Plaze Me" button it does not automatically detect my location.
I do use the built-in Windows Firewall that comes with Vista, however I have added an exclusion for Plazer. Not to mention I have tried on several occasions to disable the firewall completely to see if that was the culprit, but it did not help.
Am I the only one having this problem on Windows Vista?
I have just noticed that my plazes are not showing up in my facebook feed. The application is no longer installed and I can't find any application using the search strings plazes|plaze|plazer.
I just viewed a demo of the 'Where' app for the iPhone and it looks like an appealing alternative for geo-presence enthusiasts. I'd rather stick with Plazes, but a nice, feature rich iPhone app is a must-have.
I know that with the Nokia merge, you probably have a lot of work and that the #1 goal is the mobile phone integration.
However, Geode (Mozilla) integration could be nifty: Plazes could show the closest plazes to choose from a list. First the closest one and so on.
A Fire Eagle integration could offer something similar (as proposed by others on GetSatisfaction).
I moved home but still use the same networking setting. Thus, Plazes detects me at the old adddress. I do not want to change it, but rather want to make the old address historic. In the old interface there was a solution for this, but I cannot find anything in the current user interface.
Maybe it's a crazy idea, but when you try to update by sms it's hard to tell the exact plaze because it has a long name, and it can end creating a new one.
Maybe each plaze should have an alias, so the name could be long and descriptive for a web/plazer use but easy to call from mobile platforms.
I have been using SMS (USA: +1 718 407 9566) to post to Plazes, and the last time it worked was on Sat. October 4th, is there something wrong with the number or... thanks
I tried to create a new Plaze via SMS from a UK network over the weekend. This failed. I did not receive an acknowledgment. I sent the message,
"At Royal Southern Yacht Club in Port Hamble"
from a UK network. I have since created the plaze using the web interface. I often, (usually), find that plaze creation by sms fails; I have had this occur on a number of occasions.
I'd like to place a blog affinity badges in my blog sidebar. It needs to be smaller than the i'm here widget. I'd like it to point at my home page. All I need is the graphic really as I control the html anyway.
