I'd like to be able to set a plaze position by coordinates when there's not an exact address available to enter, typical for landmarks: I tried to enter a beach position but unsuccesfully.
Everytime I am at some plaze I need to enter all data as that plaze is not in the database. Of course, I don't expect to have everything already in, but as a beginning wouldn't it be easier to import the list of points of interests available for every GPS system (and let's say included in Nokia Maps for instance!)? In this way I can just select a plaze from the available ones rather than needing to add it every time.
I know that with the Nokia merge, you probably have a lot of work and that the #1 goal is the mobile phone integration.
However, Geode (Mozilla) integration could be nifty: Plazes could show the closest plazes to choose from a list. First the closest one and so on.
A Fire Eagle integration could offer something similar (as proposed by others on GetSatisfaction).
I moved home but still use the same networking setting. Thus, Plazes detects me at the old adddress. I do not want to change it, but rather want to make the old address historic. In the old interface there was a solution for this, but I cannot find anything in the current user interface.
Maybe it's a crazy idea, but when you try to update by sms it's hard to tell the exact plaze because it has a long name, and it can end creating a new one.
Maybe each plaze should have an alias, so the name could be long and descriptive for a web/plazer use but easy to call from mobile platforms.
A feature I would love to see implemented is an integration with Yahoo!'s Upcoming: it would be pretty handy to be "automagically" "plazed" at an event I'm attending when setting that information on the Upcoming website... It would make perfect sense since Plazes allow one to be "plazed" in a future activity and Upcoming can feed Plazes with the place, time and nature of the activity.
I've tried some. But am still unsure about which activities get posted to Twitter and which don't. Someone here for a summary?
- "now" activities seem to be a yes
- "today" seems to get posted, too. although confusingly without the timestamp
- past and future? didn't dare trying, yet, as I feared it might be more confusing without the timestamp
- Website, plazer, text messages? Tried text messaging this morning. And although messages are "now" by default, it didn't get through to Twitter. Website and plazer seem to work, though.
So...what is published to Twitter and how? Someone please enlighten me.
(And possibly put some info on plazes.com; I may be stupid. But am I the only one not getting this?)
The SMS messages generated by twitter can be over the 140 character length and thus deliver over two SMS messages. I have definitely seen this before twitter turned off SMS forwarding. (This may only occur if the originator defines an activity. I am not sure what happens if one is in a very long place name.)
Plazes.com is down with a HTTP 500 (Internal Server error). Noticed it when the Plazer didn't check me in automatically (see image), but the whole site gives the same error.Plazes
