When you register for Plazes, the password you register with is shown in plaintext in the "You have successfully joined Plazes!" email.

Inappropriate?That is true. And the fact that also a lot of other sites do this, is not an excuse.
But we are aware of this problem and implementing a lot of security/privacy measures across the board, this is one of the things we'll tackle in the near future.
We are currently working hard to launch the new site so this may take a while, but it's quite high on our schedule (also because a lot of people here are internauts like you and perfectly understand that passwords in plaintext are a big security issue). This said, i'd like to reassure you: we are working on it.
