Please be advised that the 'user block' function didn't appear to be working all day today (Monday July 7).

Inappropriate?What is the exact problem?
-
Inappropriate? What is it about the question that you didn't understand? The plurks of one of the plurkrs who I've put a block on continue to appear in my timeline. If you're waiting for me to publicly ID them I don't think that would be appropriate.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Try to check that he is removed as friend / fan.

Inappropriate?I would rather not have to remove somebody as friend/fan in order to block them, since that would prevent me from being able to include them in targetted plurks via cliques once that feature becomes more functional.
I’m unhappy
-
Inappropriate? Most of the blocks that I've put on peeps have been for using foul language. If you would provide us with blacklisting capability (eg. block on specific words) that would be a much better solution for me than having to put blanket blocks on them and would enable me to keep them as friends/fans for future clique-targetting.
I’m hopeful
-
Inappropriate? So if one of your friends does a joke about viagra, then we should auto block him from your plurks... That sounds like a bad idea.
-
Inappropriate?I could be wrong, but, I think they're wanting to avoid full-blocks, but more just be able to make a censor so that blacklisted plurks won't show on their timeline, but, plurks that aren't vulgar from that person would still show properly.
-
Inappropriate?Amir, if you want to play word games I'll give you a long list of words that I'd like the ability to blacklist. And yes, if it gets to the point that Plurk is being spammed by viagra ads then that's one of the words that would likely be on my blacklist. Now perhaps you'll explain your reluctance, instead of simply calling it a bad idea.
I’m waiting

Inappropriate? As it is currently implemented, block feature won't have any effects on your friend(s). If you want to avoid seeing your friend's plurks in your timeline, you can try to unfollow him/her instead.
-
the current block scheme does not prevent a blocked user from seeing & responding to *my* responses in a 3rd person's timeline. Seems like block should make me invisible and inaccessible to them in other peoples' threads as well as my own. Are there plans to implement a more effective blocking? And if you don't mind my asking - if not, why not? Thanks. -
Inappropriate?Alvin, did you bother to read what I wrote previously before suggesting that I unfollow people?
I’m going around in circles
-
Inappropriate?yes Greg, I did. Here's the direct quote:
"I would rather not have to remove somebody as friend/fan in order to block them, since that would prevent me from being able to include them in targetted plurks via cliques once that feature becomes more functional."
You don't have to remove them as friend. Just unfollow them and yes, you can still plurk to them via clique this way.
As for foul words and blacklist targetting, we have no plan of implementing that at this time. :) -
Inappropriate?Alvin: I didn't know that there was any difference between "unfollow" and "remove as a friend" because there's no mention of that on the Plurk blog or in the Plurk FAQ. After your last reply I checked out one of my friend's profile pages and spotted the "Don't follow..." link on top of the "Remove...as friend" link. So, apology for my last reply to you. And thanks for that info. I'm not totally clear what it is exactly, but I'll take you word for it that I'll still be able to plurk to them via clique. Since I've created a different GetSatisfaction thread about the blacklist issue, I'm going to mark this thread 'solved' (for now LOL). Thanks again.
I’m thankful for sufficient info

Inappropriate?I have blocked a user and their Plurks still appear in my timeline. They are not my Friends nor Fans!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I can't block anyone at all -- this functionality does not appear in the info box menu as the Blocked User page says it does.
I’m sad there is no block
-
Inappropriate?Does block work at all? I am seeing a person I blocked and my settings are set to only friends can see this plurk, and only friends can search for me. I do not want to see them and i am very upset because I thought I had some privacy.
I’m furious

so now what? -
Inappropriate?we have a serious problem with one of our plurkers : cathysherwin
-
Inappropriate?full block is needed please, ip ban?
-
Inappropriate? Please assist us with the ability to block a specific user from appearing on our timelines. We would like to be able to select a user and then be assured that their plurks and plurk responses don't appear on our screens. For example, if spammer spams my friend then when I look at my friend's plurks in my timeline I should not see messages from spammer.
I’m concerned

Inappropriate? This is getting very upsetting. Having someone harass people and knowing about it, needs action. Block does not work. Blacklist? terminate multiple accounts with same ISP's these people are just getting over and ruining plurk for others

Inappropriate?any update on this?

Inappropriate?eddieharris: I don't understand why you would feel it necessary to ask the question. Amir just claimed that he's doing a stellar job of answering questions here. See: http://getsatisfaction.com/plurk/topi...

Inappropriate?I usually avoid sticking my nose in, and am not here to offer any opinion, but I think sharing two points, one fact and one observation, may give some clarity to this issue.
Here is the explanation from Plurk's blog on the block feature:
"A blocked user won’t be able to see your profile, follow you, respond to your plurks or befriend you."
It is very simple to understand that when *you* block someone, they cannot see or respond to your plurks. (*That* is the block working) Of course you will be able to see and respond to theirs if they have not blocked *you*. Your only option is to not follow their plurks, if you don't care to follow their plurks. Simple concept...
If they are bothering you in someone else's threads, ask that friend to block the user also if they're deemed to be a problem there...
On the 'how to block' issue...
I originally thought that we could only block a user once they had responded to one of our threads, but could not find the option to block *any* user I found the need to at any time preemptively. However, just recently I *was* able to use the drop-down box next to a user name in someone else's thread and the block option *was* there, so I was able to block them before they ever struck my time line.
This feature has appeared randomly, so I do not know what the specific criteria is that will allow or show the 'block-option' next to a user name, but I hope that might be explained further in the future.
Feel free to contact me if you care to discuss this or any other features further, or just to say hello.
Good Day, Plurkers!!
