I'm concerned about email security on Plurk
When someone clicks on "add XXX as a friend" plurk sends an email asking for confirmation of the friendship. In the header of that email is the email address of the person requesting the friendship.
This is a privacy related deal breaker for me and I will not be adding any new friends until it is fixed.
thx, sbj

This problem is now solved (the changes need to propagate through the system and new friendship requests include "noreply@plurk.com" in reply-to field).

Inappropriate?I had no idea my email address was in the reply-to field of any friend requests I made. I'm very unhappy about this.
I’m displeased.
-
Inappropriate?I had no plurking idea either! This has to be fixed and until it does get fixed, everybody should be informed about this.
I’m very upset
-
Inappropriate?I would not have realized this if I didn't have trouble today from someone who decided to use this information to their advantage. I think this is something we should be warned about, explicitly, when we are friending people!
I do not feel comfortable making new friends now, which sort of defeats the purpose of "social media," don't you think?
I’m concerned and IRRITATED

What ticks me off now is that I've been trying (since we discovered this issue yesterday) to change my email address so that I can accept friend requests again, UNFORTUNATELY, Plurk will not let me change it! FRUSTRATING!! -
Inappropriate?Hmmmm I don't really MIND it... my email address is something that's all over the net. It's not like its a big secret or anything. Though if I got harassing emails as a result of it I'd be kinda annoyed... not really sure HOW to feel about it.
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?Yes, I would consider this to be a major privacy issue. Email headers should only contain plurk@plurk.com.
I’m wondering why plurk did not catch this.
-
Inappropriate? Not that I care about my gmail address, but I do share the same concerns. This should have been better thought through.
I’m wtf'ing.
-
Inappropriate? As of 16 hours ago, it was not fixed. I received a friend request and if I look at the headers, the reply-to email address is that of the requester, not of Plurk.
I’m frustrated.
-
Inappropriate?Hello Amir, As of about 30 seconds ago the problem still existed (I just created a test account and friended myself to be sure. If you would like to see the header information I'd be happy to send it to you, just let me know how to do so :)
thx, sbj
I’m leary

Inappropriate? Will fix this later today. We fixed a similar problem for invitations.
Thanks for the feedback.

Inappropriate? This problem is only partially fixed. While the reply-to field now shows noreply@plurk.com a view of the extended headers still shows the email address of the requester.

This is also fixed now.
