Thanks! -
Inappropriate?so we are no going to meet new friend or interesting people on plurk anymore... what a pitty...
anyway, where is the search button?i couldn't find it any where in the page ...
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?the new psearch is great -- but I liked the options in 'interesting plurkers' to filter plurks by location AND age. I live in Austin, TX, and I'm really not interested in reading plurks by someone in Virginia that happens to have the name Austin.
I checked the 'old' search and that didn't have the options I was looking for either.
How can I recreate a "location and age" filter using the new search?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Yeap. I would really love to see Plurks from my own country again.
-
Inappropriate?Bring back interesting Plurkers! I see that you can still search by age and gender on the regular search page, but it's important to me to be able to search by language and location. I can't believe you'd remove this feature. :'(
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate? Please get the "interesting Plurkers" back! It is a very important function.
Why doesn't it coexist with plurk search?
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?Interesting Plurkers page was one of the main reasons why I preferred Plurk over Twitter. I demand it back!
I’m disappointed.
-
Inappropriate? Please bring back the "interesting plurkers" option; quite frankly, the "psearch" option is ten steps back from what that was.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I want interesting plurkers back... Loved this feature. Plurk is not the same without it. It was so fun!!!
-
Inappropriate?yeah -- plurk doesn't seem to care about this issue -- they say that the new search solves the problem, but they don't say how. I was able to get it a little better by searching for "Austin TX" but that still brings up posts from 13 year olds in Korean, which I am not at all interested in seeing.
Simply put, the problem is not solved. There's been no response from them since the one quoted above, where they say "If you want to see user ranking / user discovery, then use our regular search at:
http://plurk.com/search"
but that's not 'interesting plurkers.'
I guess they don't care.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?I hardly use Plurk anymore since they removed this feature. "Interesting Plurkers" was...well, one of the most interesting things about it!
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?I agree, please bring it back! I don't like the search feature, is not the same thing. Interesting plurkers is one of the features I enjoyed the most! You will loose lots of plukers this way...
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I'm in agreement with everyone else here. Why remove it? Why not have both?
I’m confused.
-
Inappropriate? While we very much want to see the "Interesting Plurkers" feature back, I believe Plurk has already made a final decision to replace it with the current search feature.
-
it would appear they have -- it's too bad, since they give the impression of not caring at all. -
Yeah. :( Using the search feature is hard, IMHO. -
Surprise, surprise. Plurk often comes across more intent on making changes in their interests, rather than their users...
Wish it could be more of, "What do you guys want?" As opposed to, "Here's what we've done, hope you like it!" -
Inappropriate? An example: if you want to check out users between 20 and 30 years old from Austin Texas, then you can search for it here:
http://www.plurk.com/search?q=austin+...
Another example are females from Taipei:
http://www.plurk.com/search?q=taipei&...
Kind regards,
Amir -
I believe what we want to see here is a timeline of people who just updated, and not going into profiles one by one. -
I think that, plurkers aren't lookin' for something as specific, you just "find" someone interesting or fun, like walking down a new street.
But, if decision it's made... what shall we, the snooper plurkers, can do? :( -
Jawker's nailed it. Plurk has successfully closed off users from finding one another on-the-fly.
I'm not interested in searching for people specifically. I want to look at posts in real-time, and then respond to or fan those users that are making posts of interest to me. -
Thanks for your effort.
although that's interesting from an academic standpoint, I don't have the time or inclination to browse people's timelines one by one. What I want is a way to see all UPDATES from a geographic area, further limited by age and language used.
This functionality was neatly provided by the 'interesting plurkers' feature which was removed some time ago. I'm sure there was some back-end reason for doing so, but I don't think I'll be using plurk nearly as much until that functionality is present again, somehow. -
Inappropriate?Yes, exactly. We want to browse a public timeline filtered in certain ways, not search for specific users.
And is there even a way to search for a specific language at all? -
Inappropriate?@Colin, it's not "Here's what we've done, hope you like it!" so much as "Here's what we've done, don't care if you like it!"
I really do not understand why we can't have both interesting Plurkers _and_ search. If there's a good reason for that, I think Plurk could improve the mood in here quite a bit by simply explaining why that is.
I’m annoyed
-
One gets the feeling Plurk is following along with what they're seeing is making other social media sites successful and interesting (i.e. Twitter).
This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but cutting off your nose to spite your face isn't exactly the best idea in the long run. What makes Plurk unique is what makes Plurk unique, and those features are what make users stick around in the first place.
Also, their customer service skills could use some improving. One wonders why Plurkbuddy exists when it's barely used to communicate with users in the first place... -
that's what I was hoping for too. -
Inappropriate? No answer? No we will see what we can do? Or we are not bringing it back no matter how much people complain?
I’m frustrated
-
It does appear that way...
According to Amir's first response, the company says "this solves the problem". Which isn't really true, because it doesn't address the heart of the issue.
I guess we can just keep bumping this until we get another (perhaps more definitive?) response. -
Inappropriate?life is sometime random... i can always search for"three eye", but what can that compare to metting one on the street... i want the street, the suopermarket, inspiration and random
-
Inappropriate?...really, I think the people have spoken
-
You see, why I chose Plurk over Twitter is that I never know what direction I'm going, I like to see random people and things. I haven't met new people since the search feature appeared. It's not like I find people interesting based on the keywords they mention or by the city they're from. This is what the plurkers want, We want the original Plurk, not a Twitter knockoff. -
Yup, that's the way it's feeling. Plurk is trying to "succeed" like Twitter has, rather than focusing on user input and response to keep the product unique but functional. -
That's definitely the way it seems. Either it's that, or it was one of the main problems slowing plurk? If that's the case... why can't they just work on it so that there would be that feature as well as the search feature? -
Inappropriate? And so we watch this concern simply drift down the line on GetSatisfaction...
Developers of Plurk, do you have any intent to bring back "Interesting Plurkers"? Do our concerns seem valid to you or not?
Amir left his last response a month ago, indicating we should use the new "Search" feature that, while useful, does not accomplish the same thing "Interesting Plurkers" did. But no other communication since...
I’m feeling ignored, along with others here I'm sure.
-
It looks like they don't give a #&$!!, and can't even be bothered to give us a simple explanation as to WHY we can't have both.
I don't use Plurk anymore, except when Ping.fm automatically updates my status. They've removed the one feature that made it worth my while to log in. -
Inappropriate?I miss the Interesting Plurkers page! Bring it back please!
I’m Disappointed about this development
-
Inappropriate? We do care about your feedback and we will probably bring back an interesting page. The old one was simply not that interesting to the majority of users (we base this on our stats for the interesting page - which wasn't that high).
Our quality standards are high at Plurk, so we won't bring a feature back that was only appreciated by a minority of the users. And if we bring it back it will be targeted for the majority of our users.
Regards,
Amir -
The majority don't care either way, but the biggest Plurk fans, the minority who aren't spam bots or pinging their way through, really want it back.
Also, the general consensus I see through the people I'm connected to is negative feelings on the Plurk Search. Here's one: http://www.plurk.com/p/166wym
I found a lot more negative feedback... using Plurk Search, ironically... and the plurk that I posted the link to didn't even show up on the search for "plurk search".
I did find one positive: it's easier to find people based on topic. -
Inappropriate?Amir: thanks for the reply. I think the old 'interesting' page wasn't that well utilized because its presence wasn't that obvious -- the tab for it was buried in the top right, among other links. Even if someone found it, it wasn't that obvious how to use it, as I recall.
I think this is a great feature that would be more utilized by more people if it was more usable.
I’m hopeful
-
I definitely agree! Lots of people I know didn't know about it either, but the ones that did frequented it a lot. -
Inappropriate?Thanks for the response Amir!
And I agree with Anam. If you bring back this feature in some capacity, could it be an additional tab to go along with "Plurk" and "Search"? That would put it in the forefront for users, and hopefully give it more attention.
I loved the public timeline. I look forward to its return!
I’m hopeful.
-
Inappropriate?Tanks. I think the same that Colin, if it comes back, make it really present. The old feature wasn't known by many, when i talked to a few about its absence they didn't know about its existence, never seen it. :)
I’m silly
-
Inappropriate?I hope things turn out to include both options. Hardcore Plurk fans know what they want.
I’m hopeful for the best.
-
Inappropriate?Any word, Plurk, on if this feature will be returning?
-
given the way they appear to respond to things, I'm thinking 'never'. It's one of the reasons I left Plurk. -
Yep, I don't use it anymore either. Without "Interesting Plurkers," I no longer find it ... well, interesting. -
Inappropriate?Without the 'Interesting Plurkers' page, the whole Plurk experience is just very... narrowed
I understand the point that Plurk is all about showing care and catching up with frds' updates, but I do feel the strong urge and stress that it is just as equally important that there is a way or channel to expand these connections as well.
Understanding the original initiatives of Plurk, and seeing 'Intersting Plurkers' gone hugely disappointed me
No man is an island, and I may add, no social circle can be self-sustainable.
This is exactly the reason and how Wallop failed and got shut down.
The bottom line of the question is, what's wrong with meeting new people around the world?
C'mon Plruk dev team, I have had some really amazing times on Plurk with all the different people around the world and forged some invaluable friendships, 'Interesting People' IS the competitive edge of Plurk.
I’m sad & frustrated
-
You mean WAS the competitive edge, don't you? -
Yeah, it no longer has any advantages over other services, really. -
Inappropriate?@Anam: if you are commenting base on the current reality, then yea, of course, it should be in past tense.
@Eph: I'd argue that Plurk still has its advantage over twitter because of the grouped conversations. However, twitter only. There are many many other services out there.
Base on the defence that the dev team offered, that Plurk is all about caring friends, I'd say the strong focus has actually backfired on them this time. -
Inappropriate?I am still shocked that this issue hasn't been resolved. I know there are a lot of people here who have voiced their concerns on how Plurk was better because of this service that used to be provided. I myself found Plurk to be more interesting with this feature. I really hope that they get the point soon that we miss and would like this feature to come back! Even if the many, many people of Plurk haven't spoken up about it, doesn't make our views less valid. Every opinion counts and I feel that we should be spoken for as the majority since no one else is speaking on our behalf. Please bring it back and let your consumers rejoice. It can be our early Christmas present. ;)
I’m wishing for a Christmas miracle
-
Inappropriate?I've been going through 40 - 50 profile trying to find some people to follow. I can't see what they are plurking so I have to open each of them! Please bring back the interesting plurkers. That was a great feature and you are loosing people because it was removed. I really like Plurk and although many people has given up, I refused to. However, I'm starting to think why bother? Do you guys even care anymore?
I’m frustrated, annoyed, pissed
