iPhone app & GPS

There are a lot of new "location-aware" social networks popping up to take advantage of new phones and computers with GPS. I want to be on as few social networks as possible but I love GPS features. I'd prefer to just use plurk with a GPS instead of using one of the new social networks like brightkite or loopt.

Is it possible, if you make an iPhone app, to have an option on plurks to include the location (even if just the city) and a link to google maps or another mapping service? Maybe an option to include a little note at the end like "jery loves mai tais [in honolulu]" with a link to google maps on honolulu.

And, is an iPhone app in development anyway? It's easy to update on safari but it would be nice to have something that takes advantage of the iPhone
