Plurk's location search doesn't respect privacy settings.
Plurk's location search on interesting plurker's violating privacy. I chose -not- to share my location for a reason, however searching for interesting plurker's reveals this information and fails to retroactively remove plurks from the search, this really needs to be fixed.
The way it -should- work is if someone has clicked 'share my location' all of their plurks should show in the interesting plurkers time-line search. If they have unclicked it, they should no longer show in results for that query. The change should be retroactive if it's made. If this can't be done, there should also be an 'UNSET' setting for location, unfortunately, if I try to unset except for lying about country and then saying my region doesn't exist, it auto-sets it to my location and thus plurks show up again. An additional side effect of this problem is that if I do change my location data, plurks made from the altered location fail to show up when I correct my location, the location shouldn't be attached to the plurk like that and any changes to location data should be reflected across all your plurks. I don't mind the world seeing my plurks, but, I do mind personal info I have not chosen and have specifically unticked being exposed.

Inappropriate? We should have solved this. Thanks for the report.

Inappropriate? It is indeed partially fixed, but, however is not retroactive, so my privacy is still compromised should someone choose to explore the search. My plurks still show up in the search from before when this fix was made.
I’m Not entirely happy

Inappropriate?and as a side note in case there's some kind of log, getsatisfaction.com's way of reporting a problem solved is odd, I disagree with this problem being solved and have been clicking the star under Amir's name until I realised that was how I -agree- that it's solved -rolls eyes- :P Not plurk's problem in this case, just the needing to remove all plurks of a person choosing to hide their plurks from the search from the search. But, in case there's something that says I marked at as fixed/unfixed half a dozen times, it's cause I was confused by this site :P
I’m confused at getsatisfaction and unhappy with the 'fix' on plurk.

Inappropriate?@trinkit:
We clean up the global timeline every month and a lot of data gets added to the timeline and in the future we will respect users that want their location hidden.
If this is a big problem for you I can delete these plurks manually.

Inappropriate? If you mean within a month they'll no longer show, I'm good with that, otherwise yes. I'm hoping the behavior frmo now on though is more of a toggle. If I for some kooky reason decide to checkmark the box, that my posts would then indeed show in a search, but, if I uncheck it, they go away again (that's my ideal implementation anyways). But, if the best I can hope for is monthly expiry, that keeps me mildly happy :) Thanks for being on the ball and addressing this quickly.
I’m happy.

Inappropriate? The newly released search facility just borked this again. Search on plurkers by location and you get to be seen in the search results even thought the option to "show my location" is UNchecked.
Pretty basic error guys.

Inappropriate?Hi Amir. Thanks for the response.
Umm. I have my location set to do not show. Which implies that I do not particularly want people to know my location. That being the perceived purpose of this (privacy) option.
When I search for plurkers by that location, my name comes up in returned results - thus giving away my location.
I would rather expect, when choosing not to show one's location, to *not* appear in location based searches. -
It's a bug then, since we do check for location settings. Email me your location ( amix at amix.dk ) and I'll take a closer look at it.
Regards,
Amir -
Inappropriate?Will do.
