Timeline "Go to date" function
It'd be nice to have a "go to date" function on the timeline, so, I could say I want to go to July 15th on my timeline, then scroll around from there. would especially be nice for looking at plurks around a certain event in the past.

Inappropriate? It used to have this. Before they replaced it with a completely broken search feature.
I’m disgusted

i have vague memories of that little calendar button too -
Inappropriate?other/better timeline nav is still needed I think. I'd give my little finger for the mirror image button of "back to start" in it's same location on the right hand side that went "back to oldest displayed".
The temporary switch to starting at the oldest was obviously too divisive of a change, but I don't think anyone would complain about a button that did it. Plus we already gots two of them!
-
I thought I read that the back to the oldest was the cause of the messages overlapping on the timeline which is why they switched back to most current. I would think back to oldest would be relatively trivial if the data has a date-userID index. (Of course that is just a wild guess on my part.) -
Was there once a "back to oldest" button? that may have been before my time. I suspect maybe you mean the brief period when it was set up to default to oldest when reading new responses? And that, yes, had it's own issues/complaints I think... hence the revert. I still think a back to oldest 'button' would be a boon though. -
Inappropriate? We had found out that this feature got used very rarely. And most users didn't even notice that we removed it. So to keep things simple, we have removed it and plan to have it removed.
We are working on a better search thought.

Amir

thanks for the followup. I'd have liked it, but can understand the decision. -
At the time you removed this feature, most plurkers had been there for all of 1 or 2 months, so sure, it probably wasn't used much. Things are a lot different now, and I don't feel the rationale is applicable anymore.
