why can't members to edit or delete responses?
sometimes a comment has a spelling mistake and could use fixing.
or someone posts an html style link instead of a plurk style link in a response.
sometimes, people just say dumb things that they'd like to take back.
in order to address the current inflexibility in terms of fixing posted responses, plurk should provide the ability to edit or delete your own responses under other people's plurks, and responses under your own plurks.

Inappropriate?I agree. Even if we can't delete, at least let us edit so we can say "oops" or something.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?i'm also frustrated that i can't edit this question in getsatisfaction, since i accidentally left "to" in the title.
but it sortof illustrates the point! -
Inappropriate? If they wanted to say that we can't edit comments older than an hour or two, that would be OK, though some stupid things don't become apparent until a day later...
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?deleting isn't as important as editing.
-
it is the cupcake of solemnity. -
Inappropriate?Responses are getting delivered in "almost" real time to other users - so to edit them would be like editing a chat/IM message.
The other things is to keep things simple :-)
Kind regards,
Amir -
it makes things more complex for us, because we have to use extra plurks to clarify mistakes. responses are also *not* like IM messages in that they are public and persistent. treating them the same way is problematic. -
'to edit them would be like editing a chat/IM message."
Except... an IM does not get picked up by google and remain visible to the entire world with no opportunity for fixing it. -
I don't think of plurk as IM or chat, even though the messages are limited in length. It's more like a forum, and its in the service's best interest to allow people to edit their own responses.
It would also be useful for a plurk owner to be able to delete others' responses on their plurks. -
Inappropriate?I agree-- threads get overly long and it looks messy. I still don't think of plurk as IM but rather as an ever-refreshing forum.
I support the request for an edit feature.
I’m also frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I agree, this isn't IM -- there's an historical, public record of plurks in the timeline. It may be similar to IM, but it's closer to a discussion board. If we can edit our original plurk, please let us edit replies, too.
-
Right. At least with, say, Twitter, one can always delete one's own tweets, even if they are "in response" to someone else. Plurk has no such capability. -
Inappropriate?I posted something earlier as a response to a plurk, and then a few minutes later wished I hadn't (it was an image that I didn't mind sharing with friends, but didn't want to be picked up by google, etc.)... the only solution was to ask the person who wrote the plurk to delete the entire plurk, which then wiped out an otherwise useful conversation.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate? If Plurk is meant to be simple, spontaneous and ephemeral, then perhaps Plurks should 'die' after a set length of time-- say, 30 days. That would at least solve the problem of "wish I hadn't", and having an unwanted Plurk on the internet "forever."
-
noo! the great thing about plurk is that it is both. many other status update driven services like twitter and facebook allow the deletion of responses. -
This reply was removed on 02/14/09.
see the change log -
both immediate and persistent. -
Inappropriate?ok, then "the opposite" of "ephemeral" etc. OR maybe you're responding to people saying "it's not IM, it's more like a forum"?
yeah, I guess it is both.
ON EDIT-- EFF, i was glad to be able to edit! -
Inappropriate?I would be ok with a delete only solution, which wouldn't be much added complexity. Plurk really is more like a forum than IM or email. It's a bunch of little discussion threads like this place here. if it hangs around, there should be the option to remove things you say for at least a short time.
I’m non-plussed
