how to work with different identities ?
Another prob while testing poken with a friend: I created 4 identities on doyoupoken.com with identity/create. I pressed my poken until it flashed red (3rd identity) oder green (4th identity). after pokening with my friend (within 10 seconds) he received my first identity.
where/how do I manage the transferred identities ?
(in devices/manage modes I see 4 row with 4 identities, but only 2 columns: normal and discrete. )

Inappropriate?Hey there again teecee
Concerning the different identities: This is something we initially launched, but abandoned and stopped promoting after it proved user-unfriendly and unintuitive. So we disabled this function of multiple identities on the pokens. On the website you are still able to create multiple identities, but would have to decide manually which identity is enabled at a certain time. You mentioned correctly that under 'Devices' and 'Manage Modes' you can enable/disable certain identities. So if you'd like to share your business poken card in Normal Mode, you'd have to tick the box there. If you also have a poken card for friends, you could tick the 'Discreet' box for this card, so that everytime you doubleclick the poken palm, your social card will be shared (instead of the ghost card). But you will only be able to choose from 2 poken identities at a time - unless if you tick all boxes for several identities, you will share them all at once. But that doesn't make a lot of sense in the end...
I hope this clarifies it a bit more. We are aware that it is not explained enough in the FAQ - we are currently revising it completely and will have a much more complete and userfriendly FAQ very soon!
Thanks for bearing with us
I’m confident

Thanks, I understand ...
I hear the demand for business-pokens ... so more and more users will need at least 2 identities plus ghost !
the "manage mode" page just needs 3 more columns" red/green/yellow identity" and some checkboxes ... and it could work fine ... the pokens are enabled, just the website need a small(!) update ;-)
perhaps you can forward this as a wish to the technicians ?
you stopped promoting it ... so it could be the first feature for the "expert-view" om doyoupoken.com ;-) -
Inappropriate?could you put "different identities" back on the feature-wishlist ?
(on the "we-had-this-feature, it's-gone, we-want-it back" wishlist ?)
I’m full of hope
-
Inappropriate?I'll definitely bring this up within the product development team, and set it on the wishlist.
Thanks for your input, we love hearing feedback like this! -
Inappropriate?Bring it back! Pls! I think you can make a useful default for the users that are not into identities and modes. Maybe you can have an standard and expert mode on site.
For me it was a reason for buying a poken to know that I can handle a bunch of identities and have a way to share them in different ways. I'm annoyed about you shutting down this possibility of using my poken. From my point of view it's almost a deception.
I’m annoyed.

Inappropriate?I must say that I see it the same way Ben does. I find it very sad that this feature was disabled and would be happy when if it would be reenabled. Is there a plan to reenable this feature?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? It was a feature when we all bought our Pokens ...
now our hardware is able to handle different identities (and ghost mode) ...
just your new website ignores it ...
its just a very small piece of software and we could use different identities again ...
Simone, see your first post ... you told us about at least two different cards! where is it ??
I’m sad about poken

Inappropriate?I dont't know your software so I can not tell how complicated it is to implement this feature. I would like to suggest an UI-Idea that could be simple for beginners an acceptable for Advanced users.
I would put another option (e.g. "Enable Multiple modes") on the settings page below the "Enable Multiple Cards per Device" option.
When A User selects this option this would replace the checkboxes/radio-bottons on each Card with dropdown menus where the user can select, for each card, which mode to use.
By default the "Enable Multiple modes" checkbox could be disabled to prevent confustion of new users.
I think this UI would be less "user-unfriendly and unintuitive" and acceptable for all user groups.
greetings

Inappropriate?Hi Clemens,
Multi-identity seems like a very cool feature but I agree with Simone, for most people the double-clicking and flashing lights seem to be rather confusing. Makes you wonder if it wouldn't be best to remove the functionality from the device altogether.
Maybe an alternative could be to have a default profile with minimal information (e.g. only your name and picture) which automatically gets exchanged with everyone you poken with. Afterward, when you accept/discard a new contact on the website, you could give users the option to exchange profile A, B, C, ... to that specific contact.
Bottom line is that you want to keep the Poken itself as simple as possible, while offering more advanced functions on the website, as you are suggesting.
In the mean time... I've noticed several people getting a 2nd poken - especially since the Poken Pulse became available: one for pokening with their friends and one for exchanging their business profile. Could that be a simple, intermediate solution for your problem?
:-)
Kind regards,
Peter

Inappropriate?@cbergmann : good idea ! best of both worlds ...
beginners can start with one identity and *if* they accidentially pressed the button: still the only/default card will be transferred.
advanced users switch on the multi-identity feature and they know about pressing the palm-button (if not they can turn the feature off again !!)
would be very nice and software-only solution !
I’m full of hope !!!!

Inappropriate?thank you for this discussion, everyone! it's very interesting to get your thoughts on this, the product team will gladly take your inputs into consideration.
-
Inappropriate?I learned of this product through a tech republic review and was extremely interested in the concept, unfortuanately, without a way to differentiate a business profile from my personal profile, I won't be purchasing a Poken. As a highly technical user, I would love to see the ability to choose a profile on the device itself, however, I undrstand the need to simplify, leaving the functionality only on the HUB.
-
Inappropriate?hi todd & everyone
as todd pointed out, we do not have the possibility to choose your profile through the device itself in place at the moment (see faq section 'website' - 'poken card') http://www.doyoupoken.com/web/guest/s... . there are too many usability issues.
but as the faq article indicates, there will be more options coming up.
thanks for your understanding!
