Poken read-only?
Although the poken says it has 1 GB of space, I can't add anything because it is read only on a mac. Can I fix this and use the poken as a usb-key too or is all that space used when storing poken id's?

Inappropriate? We simulate a 1go key with 3 files, but in reality we only have 16 ko of memory. And this memory is used to store your contacts and the firmware.
But like you we would love to be able to write on it ;-)

So is this going to happen one day? I just got a box of pokens, and they're proving wildly popular -- but in less than 24 hours 2 people have asked me if they could also use it to store data. -
Inappropriate?I think it would be a great idea to incorporate some writable memory in the Poken! With the amount of space vs the price per GB these days, I think it would be rather easy to fit a module of 512MB or 1GB within the current Poken unit. As the 3 files need to stay read-only, you could just add the virtual drive as current pokens have it for those 3 files, and have the writable memory user configurable, regardless what OS they use.. So inserting the Poken would introduce 2 individual drives at once to the host PC... :) Now people are lugging around a USB stick -and- a Poken, this should be reduced to one device where possible, imo.. :)
I’m confident a 'Poken 2.0' will have this feature!

Inappropriate?In month i haven't met anyone with a Poken.
So i want to use my Poken as an USB drive.
Is there a way to break the read-only? -
I think it would be useless because, as Gabriel Klein said a few lines ago, the Poken has only 13kb of real memory! -
Inappropriate?Hello, I have a good news for you!

Inappropriate?@ Citizento:
Thnx for your fast reply. That's true, so it is useless as USB drive indeed.
@ Gabriel Klein:
The Pulse would be better for me, but as i bought the "old" Poken and find no use for it, i wanted to "recycle" it to an USB drive.
If i can change my Poken for a Poken Pulse it would be great,
but if i have to buy a new Pulse i would be a bit stupid for me, sinse i can't find anyone to "poke" with ;-)
In that case i use my 8Gb Cruzer (Sandisk).
Thnx for the reply tough ;-) -
Inappropriate?@Redchilly You're welcome.
A new Poken? I'm reading it right now.. looks great. -
Inappropriate?closing this thread.
hope you are all enjoying the new pulse and our shiny new website!
