Rechargable battery
I just read that the approximated battery life of a Poken is 6 months before you need to open it up and replace the battery yourself.
Wouldn't it be nice if it had a battery which can be charged via USB, so that it never runs out of power?

Inappropriate?Hi Ronald,
thank-you for your comment. This is something that was considered during product development. Several issues come into play:
- additional (significant) cost of a rechargeable battery and recharging circuitry
- do people really want another device they have to think of recharging (you would most likely not leave your set of keys sitting next to your computer for hours recharging..)
These represent difficult decisions, but with this version of poken we decided to target optimizing the power consumption as much as possible, and going this way.. for better or worse!
Best Regards,

Inappropriate?would it really takes hours to recharge and why bother about an another device accept your pc?
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Hi amark,
As you can imagine, in the process of developing the poken we studied many many options, in great detail. The current device is the result of what we felt was the best balance we could find in terms of cost, complexity, and functionality. Stay tuned, we do hope to impress you with some nifty surprises coming up in the next few months...
:)
Cheers,

Inappropriate?Arguments against rechargeable trumped by have to replace non-rechargeable battery every 6 months imho. That's too often for a battery that costs up to $4 and can be difficult to locate. Since the Poken will be being plugged into USB anyway, it seems rather obvious, actually. Afraid I'll be waiting for a rechargeable version.
I’m enthusiastic

Inappropriate? The "My Name Is E" connector manages with a rechragable battery at a comparable price point.
I'd sad I've just ordered a Poken now as I suspect the first time the battery dies I'll end up throwing it in a drawer and forgetting about it
I’m sad
