Cannot change email address
I was showing my sister how cool Polar Rose was.
On my computer, while I was logged in to Polar Rose, she clicked a link I emailed her to see the photos where she was tagged.
Somehow, the system got all confused and changed my account email address to hers (where I had sent the link) and changed all the tags with her name to tags with my name.
Now, when I go to settings to change my email address, I click save and get a 404 error.
I don't get any error when changing any of my other settings, only my email.
In addition, it looks as though there's no easy way to erase the "me tags" on all the photos of my sister.

Inappropriate?Hi,
Very sorry to hear that this happened to you.
I'm typing a long message with the explanation of why this happen, while I'm trying to also find out how best to help you.
Just wanted to quickly let you know that we are on the case!
-
Inappropriate? We think we will be able to help you but it will take us a bit of time.
In the mean time here is the explanation of what happened:
People can name faces on Polar Rose using Facebook friends or an email address. In case of Facebook we can immediately add the photo in question to the photo stream of the person that was named.
With email we can only do this automatically if the person already has an account with us and has added that particular email address in their settings.
In all other cases, of which yours is one, we send out an email with a link that allows the person that was named to "claim" these photos.
Right now, most people do not have a Polar Rose account, so when they click the link they'll go through the sign-up process, decide whether they want their name to be "private" or "public" and then they would be shown their photos.
However, in the case the person in question already has an account we are allowing them to add these photos sent by email to this account. This so that people can share photos even if they are not connected on Facebook. Also to make sure people need only one account, that will hold all images they were named in.
It is this last piece of functionality that caused your unfortunate situation. You clicked on the link meant for your sister, while still being logged in to Polar Rose yourself. This adds the photo meant for her to your identity as well as her email address.
In future we will add a screen asking if you are sure you want to add the photos to your account. This might prevent issues like yours from happening inadvertently.
We'll have a solution for your case shortly.
I’m confident

Inappropriate? So the "bug" that has been giving me so much trouble is actually a feature that, 99.999% of the time, makes peoples lives easier.
Heh, figures.
I’m amused
-
Inappropriate?Yeah, I know you probably have heard the "its not a bug, its a feature" thing before. Except this time it is true.
Don't hold me to this, but the solution will likely involve dropping your sister email address from your identity. This will cause all your sister's faces to lose their name too.
You'd then have to rename these faces with your sisters name and she'll get a new mail. Then she should be able to sign up, as long as you make sure you're not logged in the Polar Rose/Facebook. Even better would be if your sister used her own computer (if she had one) of course.
We will add a warning message in the very near future when the name on the photos you are adding is different from your own name. In the mean time, be sure to check how you are logged in :-)
I'll come back when your problem has been resolved by our team!
-
Inappropriate?Your scenario makes perfect sense, I'm really more amused than anything now.
Once you guys figure out how I should proceed, just let me know and we'll get it all squared away.
In the mean time, this technology is freaking kick butt wicked!
I’m confident

Inappropriate? There is a lot of subtlety to all this identity and privacy stuff. Its kind of hard to explain in two lines, but we're really aiming for just "doing the right thing".
Cool that it amuses you and that you like the technology. We're only just getting started. There is loads more cool stuff to come.

Inappropriate? We are ready to fix your problem. One snag though: there are two people with your name in our system. Can you go to your Polar Rose "Photos of You" page and tell me the number in the URL?
Like http://www.polarrose.com/stream/21/you (that's me...the number here of course is 21).
You can send me a mail directly with this info if you want. My email is on http://info.polarrose.com/contact/
-
Inappropriate?Hey Pat,
Guess what! Should be sorted now...We removed all faces you tagged with your sisters account & email. You should be able to name the faces in question again and send her a new mail.
Sorry it took so long!
I’m relieved
-
Inappropriate? The same happen to me. And I can't fix it by myself.
removed the faces, but the wrong email address is still attached to my account. And I can't activate it on the other account.
I’m frustrated
