"None" Topic should be an option, and is slow to load
I don't understand, and currently don't like the automatic generation of the "None" topic. For one, it should be delete-able like all other topics. I don't have any use for it, and I don't like topics visible that I will never use. Further, it is extremely slow to load the list of emails that don't have tags. It's so slow, in fact, that until today I didn't believe it actually loaded anything at all. To some extent, I think the "All" topic is equally useless, but I understand that it is meant to undo a search for any particular topic. Perhaps check-boxes next to the topics would prevent the need for the extra "All" and "None" topic, as well as adding a quick ability to search for multiple permutations of tags.

Inappropriate?Nick, how many messages were in the folder that was slow to run the search for None. That operation should be pretty fast.
-
Inappropriate?Around 10,000. I have only "Topic-ed" a few message to experiment; however, I see no such lag in the Inbox which has about the same amount of messages.

Inappropriate?Nick,
To clarify, you are doing a "None" tag search on a folder with 10,000 messages.
Do you have any search terms, or is the search box blank?

Inappropriate?Nick,
Curious, how many topics do you have?
I'm seeing performance problems when I have a large folder and I do "None" when I have a lot of topics.
If you right click on a topic in the folder pane and do "Edit Topics..." how many do you have?

Inappropriate?Nick,
Thanks again for reporting this issue. We've improved the performance of "none" topic searches in our test build of b16 which is now available.
See http://getsatisfaction.com/postbox/to... for details.
Note that performance is improved by about 50%, and we have plans to make it even faster in future releases.
Can you try the b16 test build and let me know if things are faster for you?
