attached .html files become embedded?
When attaching .html files they appear to become embedded in the email source, and therefore not accessible as an attachment for the recipient.

I have also the sale problem : I cannot export a mail as HTML with the attachment embedded. Specially when I export to Together or EagleFiler. -
Inappropriate?bump.
would love to get some kind of response for this please... its not only .html files, appears to be any text based file....

Inappropriate?are you attaching into the message body or into the attachment list bucket in the compose window?
Most mail clients (including Postbox) have an option to decide whether to show attachments in line on the display side. For Postbox that's View / Display Attachments Inline. But even if you show an attachment inline, it should still be showing up in the inspector sidebar. -
Inappropriate?attaching via the list bucket. when i look at the sent email, and when my recipient receives the email it does not show in the sidebar (or mail client equivelent) only in the message body.
Am I the only one reporting this, it seems a major to me.

Inappropriate?Hey Scott. Could you advise status on this please? is it just me??
thanks -

Inappropriate?I have this issue as well, but when I look at my sent message source the HTML is not in the file, only the encode. I am wondering if the "in-line" tag isn't doing something to us, like causing other browsers to inject the code in-line and forget about the attachments.

Inappropriate?--------------060006090806040901060506
Content-Type: text/html;
name="Layout2.html"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Disposition: inline;
filename="Layout2.html"
I am questioning the content-disposition line. -
Don't. It's how all attachments are handled. Inline ones have a content id that is used to show the object inline. -
You should read the discussion. We are attaching a file, not embedding a file. We don't want it shown inline. Postbox email, for some reason, displays the files this way on other clients. -
No. Look at the source of an email with an attachment in Thunderbird. All of them (except for exes and windats) have Content-Disposition: inline; regardless if it is really inline or not. -
Inappropriate?Ditto — and BUMP!
(The Postbox guys tell me they have just finished a huge post-1.0 push that had them away from these forums, and had taken a little breather afterwards, but they'll be back very soon and catching up with these issues.) -
Inappropriate?i hope thats the case as i have found the level of service/response has dropped to nil since paying for the software!

Inappropriate?I have an instructor that requires all html files I develop for class to be emailed. This is a small hassle. The work-around is to zip them, but not everyone wants to deal with the zips.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Attaching rtf files seems to give the same result. Instead of an bona-fide attachment, the rtf is placed inline. On the receiving end, this winds up looking like gobble-de-goop.

Inappropriate?am i the only one getting zero response to issues since purchasing this software... im feeling very disappointed after initially raving about postbox..

Actually, they're usually much better about replying. I'm still having this problem (where the receiver is NOT given the option of seeing the HTML as an attachment, but ONLY as embedded. I'm contacting Postbox directly to get someone to this thread. -
Inappropriate?Guys, try this:
If you have ThunderBrowse, go to about:config and then in the filter type: mail.content_disposition_type. Set it to 1.
For everyone else, go to Tools < Options < Advanced < Config Editor. In the filter type: mail.content_disposition_type and set it to 1.
This will make attachments attach as attachments. If you want them to also not display (in the email to you), change the following:
Then, change mail.inline_attachments to false.
I’m pretty sure this should work.

I stated the wrong prefs. Sorry. I updated the post with the correct ones. -
Inappropriate?ooh great find netMASA!! If you guys can verify that that fixes the problem we should be able to fix that for the next update.
Kudos to netMASA for digging that pref up!

Inappropriate?Thanks for reporting back that the fix worked Vinnie.
Will look into addressing that for everyone else in the next update. -
Inappropriate?Worked for me too (Mac 10.4.11/Postbox 1.0.1).
HTML file came as attachment.
But photo dragged into the body came inline.
Thanks netMASA! Nice detective work.

Inappropriate?We put together a test build for the next update that includes a fix for this issue if you would like to try it out:

Inappropriate?Display attachments inline has just spouted some horrible results when some HTML files were attached and e-mailed to me.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
HTML Inline Attachments.
I’m sad
-
Does it disappear when display attachments inline is unchecked? -
Inappropriate?Well shoot. I made NetMASA's changes and it resolved the problem, but now images that are SUPPOSED to be inline are only appearing as attachments.
Hope that's not the case in the 1.0.2 build...
-
the 1.0.2 build sets the same pref as as NetMASA.
To see inline attachments in a message when viewing, make sure View / Attachments Inline is checked. -
Inappropriate?Hey Robio. can you give more info?
if i copy an image into the emails body, then send, the image appears inline when received (as expected) when implementing NetMASAS fix. -
I think I might have had View > Attachments turned off as part of my experiments. I'll report back if the problem persists.
