More add-ons are available for Postbox, including the popular Zindus add-on for Google contact sync. Our blog has more information.

Inappropriate?Looks like you will soon be charging for postbox. I noticed a link to the store providing a discount available until 8/31/09. If so I will be going back to Thunderbird which has many of the same features and is free.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Unlike Joan, I was happy to pay for Postbox, I even chose the lifetime update option. My journey from Postbox skeptic to blissful user isn't complete, but I was delighted to help fund further development of an email app that has great potential. A big smile to the Postbox dev team. Thank you!
I’m happier with every release..
-
Inappropriate?I have used both Postbox and Thunderbird and I can't see any features Postbox has that Thunderbird doesn't have that make it worth the cost. Thunderbird also has features like Thunderbrowse that I missed when I was using Postbox. I'm happy to be back with Thunderbird.
-
For anyone interested, we're happy to announce that ThunderBrowse now supports Postbox! -
Inappropriate?I'm on the fence here myself. Yes, its true that Thunderbird has many of the same features (and more, with addons), but I got pretty frustrated with Thunderbird having issues and taking forever to fix - not to mention every time I upgraded Tbird, most of my addons would stop working. Many of the most important things that I get from Tbird addons are native to Postbox, so I don't have to worry about versions being incompatible, or addons no longer being supported by the developer.
But I still don't know - to me, I'm not sure if I see a compelling enough reason to pay, considering there is no appointment handling or exchange support, which is really what makes an email client commercial to me.
Don't get me wrong - I really like Postbox and am grateful for all of the hard work the dev team has put into it. Just not sure yet.
I’m undecided
-
Thanks for the feedback Snipe. We'll keep improving the product, and we'll do our very best to earn your business! -
Inappropriate?I'm broken.
Something is crashing Postbox Beta 14 everytime it starts. Beta 14 crashes to the point of being useless. I added Lightning and Provider for Google, and it started crashing. I disabled both add ons, and it began crashing every time. I uninstalled them completely with no success - still crashes everytime. I can start in safe mode and operate reliably. The add ons I have installed are Nostalgy, Quicktext, and Zindus.
I love Postbox, and the calendar integration made me very very happy. I will be purchasing if I can get past this.
I’m sad

Jimmy, would you mind logging a new topic with this information? Best to have it tracked separately so that the conversation is somewhat clean. Thanks! -
Inappropriate?@Igor and @Joan, please see my comment at:

We decided to lead with the premium version, but will continue to explore options for a free version over time. -
Inappropriate?Wow, I just don't understand how some people can think that all the time and effort that goes into developing a software product should be free. Especially if there is the expectation that there will be support and fast bug fixes. No one would expect to go into a store and leave with something without paying for it. I don't understand that kind of thinking.
I’m perplexed.

Actually in this day and age there are several alternatives for a product to make money without charging the user directly. Look at Firefox, Hulu, Komodo, Adium, etc. It all depends on the application, and Email clients are now fitting into this "free" category. -
And what would those alternatives be except for advertising? Most of OpenSource is maintained on a volunteer basis. Frankly, I think people have no idea what it takes to develop and support a software product in this day and age.
