Better OS Integration
Postbox is my default mail app, but no software seems to support it. iCal still launches Apple Mail to send invites or event notifications. QuickBooks will not send invoices, estimates, etc using Postbox. Net Newswire will not send news item contents using Postbox.

They need to support apple script properly before these will work.
Part of the issue is that those applications don't check to see what your default mail application is, they just assume Mail.App and have apple script hard-coded for mail.app.
Regardless, for one application to talk to another (properly) on OS X they need to get apple script working.
More and more i'm hoping they address this issue before a 1.0 release.

Inappropriate?Yes, this is *very* annoying.
Chronosync uses mail.app, so whenever I am syncing I get mail.app popping up and rebuilding my IMAP folders, just because chronosync wants to send me an email
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Yeah. I hate Apple mail, but every program assumes that your default client is Mail. Why? Does Apple honestly think that everyone is going to like their product?

Off Topic:
well...yes, that's what Apple does. They even based a whole business model on that assumption ;-) -
Inappropriate?I for one HATE Mail.

Inappropriate? So is this a Mac or a Postbox problem? I want to be able to email a PDF from pages.

It's a Mac problem, because no matter what, your computer always thinks that you want to use Apple Mail. -
Its a postbox problem and an Apple problem, but not a MacOS X problem.
1) Postbox: Postbox doesn't support applescript, until they do these types of interactions on the mac will not be possible. Huge problem.
2) Apple Problem: Apple sets up their software (like ical and Pages) to use Mail.App by default via applescript. To get post box working would be a bit of a hack, but would be completely doable if postbox supported applescript.
3) Not a MacOS X problem: MacOS X lets you define your default email client. its the way iCal and Pages do not honor that change that causes issues. This goes back to being a Postbox problem. there is no email client out there that supports applescript well enough that is also popular enough for apple to care enough to fix the problem. Postbox needs to become that mail client, but until they take applescript seriously (and they aren't at this point), that isn't going to happen. -
Inappropriate? As this is a similar topic, please feel free to join following post, add where it limits interaction with OS X, and really gives these line of development a stronger voice!
