Can I download email but not delete the messages on the server as I need to access my email via the web sometimes?

Inappropriate?Eddie, are you using POP3 or IMAP?
If POP3, make sure your account is set up to leave messages on server (Tools / Account Settings / <your> / Server Settings.
That should keep your messages on the server.
