Can I subscribe to IMAP folders without syncing them?
Is it possible to show the "All Mail" folder from a Gmail account in Postbox without it automatically syncing it?
Why? Well, I like to use the All Mail folder to search for messages, but I don't like duplicate new mail notifications or having to mark the folder as all read to remove the new mail icon for messages I immediately archive.
Windows Live Mail supports the ability to do this.

Inappropriate?Maybe you could subscribe to all mail and un-subscribe from the inbox. That way, new mails would be on top of the all-mail box without duplicates.
For me, if I really want to search, I still prefer the web-interface...
I’m amused

Inappropriate?True, that could be a workaround but then my inbox would be huge and I like to clear out processed/actioned messages.. out of sight out of mind!
I do as you do now, go to the web interface to search, but really that's an admission that the application isn't serving you best and kind of defeats having a client-side application at all.
I’m undecided

Can't index online messages I think. I don't know if the IMAP protocol supports indexing off-computer (online). No real solution for your problem, I guess....
