Can you disable Growl notifications?
I explicitly disabled postbox from giving notifications in my prefs, but I'm still getting a Growl notification when new messages arrive. Granted, I can go into Growl and disable notifications from Postbox, but it seems like I should be able to enable/disable Growl notifications from Postbox itself.

Inappropriate?I think you need to go through the growl preferences for this as that's the recommended way for managing the growl notifications.
Thanks for the feedback! -
Inappropriate?I understand that I *can* use the Growl preferences to disable it (I have already done so), but it seems odd that I need to do that for two reasons:
1. Postbox allows me to disable other kinds of alerts (e.g., audio alerts). Why not let me disable the Growl alerts?
2. Postbox is choosing to send the Growl alerts; I would imagine that it would be fairly simply for Postbox to choose to *not* send the Growl alerts as well.
Indeed, other apps (e.g., Adium) do not make me go into Growl to disable their Growl notifications.

Do you really plan on enabling/disabling Growl notifications on a regular basis? For me, I decide whether I want to see them for a given app, and that's that. Pretty much a one-time deal. -
Agreed; it'll be a one-shot deal for me as well. I'm just saying that it's odd that Postbox is doing something without asking / without giving a preference. There are certainly apps that give you a preference as to whether to emit Growl notifications or not (e.g., Adium). -
Inappropriate?Ah..I was looking at Mail.app which doesn't let you do this from what I could see.

Because of your comment, I checked: I can see that about half of the apps on my MacBook that use Growl have some kind of preference *in their app* for disabling Growl notifications. The other half do not -- I suppose that just like you said before, they rely on you going into Growl and disabling the app's notifications there.
So I guess the field is fairly split on this issue -- fair enough.
But it still does seem odd to me that you can disable *some* of Postbox's alerts from within Postbox (e.g., audio notification when mail arrives), but not all of them (Growl).
