Change the dock badge color?
Any way to change the dock badge colour? I don't find the green very eye-catching compared to Mail.app's red.

Inappropriate?Unfortunately you can't customize that dock color. We'll take your feedback into consideration in thinking about the right color to use there.
-
Inappropriate?I don't mind it being green per se, it just seems to blend in too much with the icon itself since it's a similar level of brightness to the "box".
-
Agreed, not sure why a darker green cannot be used, if not a default red that is very distinct feature of os x UI and works very well -
Inappropriate?I agree. The green blends in with the busyness of the icon.
On OSX, Red is the correct colour for a count in a dock badge. Mail.app, iCal, Adium and Things all use red. -

Inappropriate?Oh wow. i didn't even see that B7 was out.
Nice. -
Inappropriate? Thanks guys! I didn't want to spoil the surprise that we had a new application logo coming and we didn't want to set a badge color until that was finalized :)
Glad you like it! -
Glad to see that it has been change but it would be even better if it matches the standard Apple dock badge since I like consistency :P
Scott, when I mark an email as unread, the dock badge does not respond to this change, is it suppose to be like that? -
Inappropriate?currently our dock tracks new / unseen messages (like thunderbird) not unread messages (like mail.app).
We're still working out what the right behavior to support is. -
Inappropriate?Love the app. Really nice work everyone. You deserve a big pat on the back.
Although the new app logo is a huge improvement, the gray is easy to miss.
The Mac OS X dock suffers from the unfortunate problem of grocery-store-shelf-itis. Everything on the shelf is dying to be noticed! It's horribly busy and not easy on the eyes whatsoever.
For instance....

Thanks for caring! =)
I’m tickled pink by Postbox!

I see what you mean about the grey postbox icon being harder to find. I think most of the postboxes in the style of this new icon were red though, which would hide the new dock badge.
I would love to see the whole postbox dock icon turn red when there are new messages, then the badge could stay the same. Email is often just as important as instant messaging - why should Adium be the only app that changes its icon to indicate status? -
@Jason @James we're going to do some tuning of the icon at smaller sizes, so let's see what comes out of that effort first. -
Inappropriate?Sherman, you rock, and do what you got to do.
Since I'm here, I ought to say, I've gotten used to the gray postbox. Apparently it was just a matter of time to get adjusted to it.
Thanks again. So you know, I'm still using it daily. Love it.
Peace,
Jason R.

I’m smiling.

Inappropriate? No worries, but we'll still be doing some tuning so that it has a bit more "shine" in the doc.
I’m happy

Inappropriate? We have a test build that makes the badge icon now match the standard system in the dock on the mac if you'd like to try it out:
