Dock badge ignoring when messages become marked read on the server
Please make the dock badge update when messages are marked as read by the server.
I access my gmail account from several places, including imap in Postbox which I leave open 24/7. If I read a message in one place it is of course marked read on the server, which Postbox reflects in the message list. However the dock badge still says there are new messages. I spent 30 seconds looking through all the folders before I realized what was going on. It was an already read message in my inbox causing the dock badge to say there were new messages.

Inappropriate? The Dock badge unread count implementation leaves a lot to be desired.
There are several notes about it laying around. From what Postbox said, it reflects the number of new unread since the last time it checked. So, if you have 4 unread now and it checks again in 5 minutes and you still have 4 unread, then the dock badge will read 0, because there are no new unread since the last check.
There are been several suggestions on improving it, Postbox has been remarkably quite on the subject though. ;-) -
Inappropriate?Hi James,
Thanks for logging this. We're aware of a few issues related to the dock notification, and we definitely hope to address these in a future beta. -
Why not take an approach like Blackberry's. By default, BB's show the number of unread messages and if there are new messages since the last use of the messsage app, a star/asterisk is displayed next to the unread count. That way you know both: 1. is there anything new since I last checked and 2. How many damn messages do I need to read. -
Inappropriate?Same behavior as Mail (showing total unread, not new since last check, in all inboxes) would be brilliant, at least as an option. Thanks!
