drafts and duplicates are showing up in archived threaded conversations
Looking back through a handful of emails that I composed and sent out this morning, I have noticed that the drafts that are auto-saved are showing up in the threaded conversation view that has been archived into gmail "all mail".
While I am composing the message, the auto-save of drafts seems to work properly. I can see it auto-saving and I can see it in the drafts folder. But hours later, the drafts of partially composed emails are included in the threaded conversation view.
In addition to this, it seems that Postbox is saving duplicates of some emails into the same archived threaded conversations. I noticed this when I went back into gmail webmail to see how Postbox was interacting with gmail. In my threaded conversations there was duplicates of some messages. The only difference is that one is purple font and one is black. Does that mean that it is saving a copy of the received message and also the sent reply?
Is any of this expected behavior?
I have double checked my account settings in Postbox and everything is in order.
Thanks

Inappropriate? That is the expected behavior if you choose to have converations include messages across all folders. You can change that in Preferences / Display / Formatting
However I hadn't really thought about the case where you get a bunch of autosave drafts showing up as opposed to a real working draft....
Hmm, that's some food for thought. -
Inappropriate?OMG! I've just experienced this first hand. It's terrifying! I can see eight progressive drafts of an email I've written in the thread in my Gmail account.
I'm glad your workaround appears to fix or at prevent the problem from reoccuring but then I don't get my sent messages appearing in the useful threading feature.
I’m glad those drafts weren't really sent (eight times over). Phew, that would have been embarrassing!

Inappropriate?I just noticed this as well.
Additionally, the autosaves do not delete once the email is sent. So i have all my auto saves from the drafts folder in the conversation view.
Drafts should be deleted once the email is sent. If your intent is to keep them, they should be templates :)
"Drafts" should probably be excluded from the Conversation views ... Or, at the very least, which folders are included in the conversation view should be an option (or being able to exclude drafts should be an option). -
Inappropriate?Any news on the status of this topic?
not showing drafts at all in the conversation view is the obvious, to me, fix for this. If it is a draft it is not yet part of the conversation. -
Inappropriate?I'm seeing this as well. I just looked in my drafts folder and there are several messages that I sent out Saturday night sitting there as drafts. I had to double check them as sent before trashing them.
Feedback from Postbox on this would be welcome.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?I wanted to report the same problem, then I found this thread.
It's still an issue in current build 1.0.1.
And I think while it might be expected when searching across all folders, it's still poor usability to include the Gmail recycle bin as a folder for the conversation view. Why can't it simply be excluded?
Or maybe add a checkbox "include recycle bin" for those who are really into this kind of pain? -
hmm messages from the trash folder should never be showing up in the conversation. Does postbox properly recognize your trash folder as the trash folder for your gmail account? i.e. does it get the special trash icon next to it in the folder pane? -
Hi Scott,
Thanks for your reply.
Indeed, there seems to be a problem with folder recognition.
On the top level, I have folders inbox, sent, trash and "[Gmail]".
Under "[Gmail]" I again have sent, trash, marked and also drafts. These are not recognized and probably the source of the problem.
