Inappropriate?Do you mean between messages in the Inbox and All Mail folders?
-
Inappropriate?I guess.
I like using a desktep email client I just don't like how Gmail works IN the desktop clients. It takes up way to much space and loses the Gmail functionality. -
Inappropriate? What functionality do you use in Gmail that you feel is missing in desktop email? Perhaps we already have those features or are in development.

Inappropriate? Please allow me to ask this first then. How do you all recommend setting up Postbox for use with Gmail (imap)? I have almost 65,000 messages in my Gmail All Mail folder using almost 6.5GB of my allocated space.
A lot of those messages will have more then one "tag" or "label" as Gmail of course calls them. By subscribing to my all my folders then several copies of that message will then be downloaded, will it not?
I could simply "unsubscribe" from my "All Mail" folder but the best I can tell by doing so "deleted" messages then cannot be moved to "All Mail".
I'm not gripping so please don't think that. I really like the product, I'm just looking for the best way to use it with Gmail.
Thanks -
Inappropriate?Number 1 thing to do is to make sure you set your account up using the new account wizard with Gmail IMAP selected. That cures all sorts of problems and also helps us troubleshoot issues since we'll know what your configuration looks like.
Gmail looks like any other IMAP server to Postbox. Gmail makes a copy of each message within each folder. If you're subscribed to all folders then Postbox will download duplicate copies.
With respect to deleted and archived messages, you can specify where you want your messages to go when you hit delete or archive. Just go into Account Settings to set those preferences.
I personally do not subscribe to my All Mail folder in Postbox, but many people do. When I archive I choose to have those messages go into a dedicated archive folder as opposed to All Mail.
I hope this helps.
I’m happy

While I've unsubscribed All Mail, I'd still like to send my mail there. Unfortunately, it's still trying to download the entire All Mail folder or something like that... -
Inappropriate?Thanks Sherman.
I'm going to play around with the option of not subscribing to my "all mail" and see how I like it.
As for setting up with the Wizard I did do that.
Thanks for the assistance.

You can go here and suggest gmail team to implement "folders" instead of labels to gmail.
