Gmail archive against delete
Postbox looks absolutely amazing! I have one thing I can't work out though. I use Gmail. If I delete a message it goes to trash whereas I would expect it to be archived and go to All Mail. Is this possible? If it goes to Gmail/Trash won’t it get deleted after thirty days or something?

Inappropriate?OK - I've found the server settings and I see it can be set from there. But what is the recommeded behaviour for Gmail to reproduce Gmail's archive? Move to All Mail? Or Just mark it as deleted?
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I still really don't understand how to handle Gmail properly. If you enable All Mail so that Postbox sees it you can unread message twice - one in inbox, one in All Mail. What exactly are the archive settings supposed to be for a Gmail account? Sorry - bit baffled here.
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate? Also if you leave the defaults in place Postbox archives to its own archive folder ( a local one?) and leaves the original message in the Gmail inbox, Very promising software but the message handling here is baffling to me.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Instead of deleting, trying archiving the message (shortcut key: A). That will move it to All Mail if you have it set up that way.
-
Can you please explain, how to set it up that way? -

I have been using this since your suggestion yesterday and it is working perfectly! Thanks. -
Inappropriate?Hey. I am in Postbox for Mac. I am trying to make "archive" work as in gmail without success. I can ́t see the "All Mail" folder under <gmail> in the account settings (it just shows sent mail, trash, drafts and starred. I tried to "subscribe to the folder" but it does not appear. Any suggestions?
I would appreciate some help. Otherwise I am loving it...</gmail>

hi fetalis,
did you set up your account as an imap account? You'll need to dot hat to see the All Mail folder. -
Inappropriate?Thank you Scott for the suggestion. I am almost sure that when I set up the account I chose the "imap" option as the changes I do in the desktop client show up in gmail, and I have imap enabled for my iphone. But, is there a way to check that? An if I am wrong, is there a way to change it?
-
you can check it by going to: Tools / Account Settings / server settings
if the gmail server name has imap in the name you should be good to go.
