GMail Duplication Issue: Folders=Tags
Gmail Duplication Issue
Is there a way that Postbox would not duplicate the tagged emails but instead "symlink" to emails in all mail folder? I might be wrong about this, I have to do more research but I am going to make an assumption that the Postbox's staff already knows this and probably am not going to do this due to the possible complicity it adds to their code.
My current understanding of how Gmail works is this (might be wrong), every email in a gmail account is stored inside the single "All Mail" folder except for trash, sent, and drafts. What separates each email is the associated "tag" header that is appended to each email after gmail receives it. So why can't an email client process each incoming email, read the "tag" and place it in the folder? This would remove the possibility that the email client will download every email in each folder, including all mail which would duplicate any emails that it already has from the other tags folders, increasing to the massive mail storage and screwing up the search and index as now it has duplicates to deal with.
Just wondering what postbox thinks about this.

Inappropriate?I don't think this is something Postbox or any IMAP based client could easily work around Mikhail. We talk IMAP to the gmail service and gmail imap actually does make us think that there's a unique message in each folder even though underneath the imap covers they may be sym linking things.
But I'll think on you suggestion some more. -
Inappropriate?Same problem here, 700mb on my Gmail account and 2gb on my local disk with Postbox.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?I solved my problem with this Gmail feature by choosing not to subscribe to gmail folders apart from All Mail, Sent Mail, Drafts and other two which are no larger than a few mb. Now the space on my disk is half the size than before! In addition to this Postbox search feature does locally what labels do in Gmail web interface (for me at last).
I’m happy
