Hide repeated text in conversation view
It would be great if, in conversations, Postbox could hide repeated text. This is most helpful for conversations where the participants top-reply -- when you look at a conversation (by default), you'll see only the "new" text in each email (probably with an option to click and see the entire text for a given mail in the conversation). This is a massive savings in screen real estate and lets the eye focus on the actual conversation -- not all the gorp that gets automatically carried through from message to message when participants top-reply.
Gmail has this feature when viewing conversations; I find it extremely valuable.
Gmail also does something intelligent with inline replies (not just top replies); I haven't looked closely enough to see what their exact algorithm is.

Inappropriate?Jeff, if you are viewing a conversation summary, we hide the quoted text by default for every message in the conversation. You can click the 'show quotes' link to insert the repeated text.
Lemme know if that's not working for you and thanks for trying Postbox! -
Inappropriate?Hmm. This doesn't seem to be the case for me. Here's a screenshot:

(this image likely to be deleted sometime in the future)
You can see that the conversation has 4 messages in it; each are top-replies to the previous. In the one message that's showing in the conversation, you can clearly see all the other replies below it -- the text is not hidden. Are you talking about a different view, perchance? -
Inappropriate?interesting, in that particular message it looks like the quoted text is actually set as an attachment.
I bet if you had another conversation that used quoted text for the replies instead of a forward attachment you would see what I mean about Postbox hiding the quoted text. -
Inappropriate?I'll file a bug to see if we can detect the particular condition you see here, I'm not sure how to do that quite yet though.

Inappropriate?Actually, this does not seem to be the case (that the quoted messages are attachments). All of the mails in this thread are MIME type text/plain (specifically: "Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii""). I have uploaded the raw source of these messages to
http://jeff.squyres.com/postbox/postb...
(just like the picture URL I posted earlier, this file probably won't live there forever -- please download if you need to keep a copy)
Perhaps your quoted text analyzer is simply not recognizing the "-----Original Message-----" delimiter...? -
Inappropriate?I am having the same problem with most messages with replies. This was happening in 1.0b7 and is the same in 1.0b8. Seems like the function that take care of this needs to be a little better at searching.
