Lightning error when dismissing event
I'm having trouble managing alerts. When I first added my calendar, I get hundreds of alerts. Then when trying to dismiss them, I get an error stating MODIFICATION_FAILED

Inappropriate? That error is seen just trying to dismiss any alert?
Was this for a google calendar Lev or a caldav server?

Google Apps calendar. -
Inappropriate?Similar problem here. Google Calendar - caldav
No matter what I click (dismss or snooze), the "reminders" popup goes away, Postbox shows the "working" spinner in the far right of the toolbar, then two tweet noises, and the "reminders" popup is back. Over and over and over. No way to get rid of it without disabling Lightning.
Even closing the "reminders" popup manually gets the same result. -
Inappropriate?Finding LOTS of bugs and problems, in addition to the dismiss issue, not even fair to call this beta. Creating duplicate events, when I have an invite in an email, the accept/decline toolbar doesn't indicate your status for the event, so you don't even know if you've responded, etc.

It sounds like your bugs are with the Mozilla Lightning calendar and not Postbox. We'll keep passing the bugs we see here on to those folks. -
Inappropriate?I'll see if I can find a lightning bug for this and see if there's anything we can do to help. Thanks for the report guys.
-
Inappropriate?I wonder if the problem goes away if you use the google calendar provider add-on and configure the calendar using that option instead.
-
Yes! That ABSOLUTELY solves it. It means you have to install that extra plugin, and follow the guidelines that plugin has for adding calendars, but after that it works perfectly.
Thanks a lot Scott! -
The Google Calendar Provider doesn't solve this problem for me. I solved this problem in Thunderbird by using a newer nightly build of Lightning and Gcal provider, you really should update the Postbox-compatible Lightning add-on. -
Inappropriate? In going through the lightning project database we found a couple interesting things:
1) you can't seem to dismiss alarms to calendars you can't write to. Their recommendation for right now is to disable alarms for that calendar.
2) The google calendar provider addon for google calendar's created using the google calendar option and not the cal dav option doen't seem to suffer from this but I read a comment that said the google calendar add-on disables alarms on the google calendar.

this solves the problem

Inappropriate? As said above, using the Google Calendar provider add on also listed on the extensions page, and following its setup tutorial for setting up calendars, this works perfectly.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? Thanks for the feedback Joost. I think we need to help keep the word out to encourage folks who want to use google calenar to use the extra google calendar provider instead of configuring google as a cal dav server.

Inappropriate?can you guys clarify how to use Google Calendar with Postbox? Lightning does not work at all, including the latest b15, and Google Provider has it's own idiosyncracies. I realize it's still beta, but you advertise it as working, so I think it's fair to expect a little internal testing and documentation before telling us to waste our time on it.

I'm successfully using Lightning with Postbox and Google Calendar, my only gripe so far is the problem dismissing events. -
Inappropriate?Using the Google Calendar Provider did work great for a while, but the problem is back, I get a Modification failed error when I try to dismiss a reminder.
I am using
Thunderbird 2.0.0.23
Lightning 0.9
Google Calendar Provider 0.5.5
I have made sure that the calendar is not marked at read only and have tried with the experimental cache both on and off. -
If you're using Thunderbird, you're on the wrong forum (this is the forum for Postbox) -
Inappropriate?Very annoyed with PB & Lightning now!! Neither work well enough as advertised....
I’m P***** off
-
Inappropriate? It seemed this problem was solved, but it's reappeared recently (even after updating Gcal provider to 0.5.5). Strangely, it's only happening with some events, not all.
