Lost email when undoing a move to the wrong folder

Tonight I moved a message from my inbox to the wrong folder. When I did CMD+Z to undo, the message disappeared completely. This was on an Gmail IMAP account, so I found it in All Mail, but when I tried to move it from there to the intended folder, that copy disappeared too. Now the email is gone completely.

The scenario:
1) Gmail IMAP account

2) Incoming email in In Box

3) Using Nostalgy, accidentally moved the message to the wrong folder
(similar names in different accounts, the folder where it landed was a POP account)

4) CMD+Z to undo the move
(confirmed that's what CMD+Z should do by looking in the Edit menu)

5) Message did not reappear in In Box

6) Before posting here, I Reset All Folders and Indexed All Folders, just to make sure the message wasn't THERE, but not being seen

7) Searched again after indexing and found only the copy in the Gmail account's "All Mail" folder

8) Tried to move that copy (again through Nostalgy)

9) Didn't find it where I moved it

10) Searched again — and this time the search comes up empty

11) Email is apparently lost forever
