Option to disable to-do's.
It's possible to remove the to-do column from a message list view. Please consider making it possible to disable to-do's in the interface entirely.
In the Mac community at least, you'll find many users who've invested time and money into to-do applications precisely because they don't want to use their inboxes as their to-do list. Being such a user, I'd prefer to hide away the notion of to-do's in Postbox entirely.
In a perfect world, Postbox would integrate with my to-do list app of choice (Things), but that isn't a reasonable expectation for a cross-platform 1.0 release :)

The company has this under consideration.

Inappropriate?ctrl-click on the message list column headers and remove the to-do column.
View / Customize Toolbar to remove the to-do toolbar button.
One of the things that differentiates the Postbox to do model is the fact that it's built into your communication stream but also integrating with other to-do applications would be cool too.
Thanks for trying out Postbox! -
Inappropriate?I've done both of those, but the to-do button still comes up when viewing individual messages and thread summaries.
-
Inappropriate? You also see the new to-do button turn up when composing a new email.
-
Inappropriate? The company has NOT implemented this idea... yet. Sure, we can remove the to-do column but as Alex and Rob mentioned above, we are still able to see the button in individual and new messages.
I personally am sticking with The Hit List as my GTD application and intend to keep it separate from Postbox.
I’m indifferent

Inappropriate? Thanks for the clarification between the message list and the message header. We'll definitely consider the idea.
Generally speaking, there are a number of refinements that we're looking to make WRT to-dos, so please be sure to share your ideas in Get Satisfaction.
I’m excited

Inappropriate?I second Alex's perfect-world aim of offering system-wide to-do integration (which is what Things uses) in the Mac application.

Inappropriate?I completely agree with this topic.
Integration with an external todo application will be vastly superior to anything that you can do internally with postbox. Look at Things (http://culturedcode.com/things/) for instance. There is no way Postbox will ever have that level of functionality.
Just marking something as "Todo" is as good as hitting "t" (for topic) and typing "todo" ... And if you do that, its a whole lot easier to find your todo's than the current system allows for. Even if you make a todo tab, using topics increases their usefulness. "todo, urgent, project1"
You guys already have the great tagging system in place. Leverage that to do any type of "internal" todo list that you are wanting to do. Have the "Todo" Column just set the "todo" topic automatically. Have the todo tab just pull todo topics. The "favorite topics" is right there, which will then let people whittle it down even more ... and with the tab "Todo" won't have to be in the list of favorites.
If you can get the topics syncing properly (that is, via indexing, have post box generate the topic list for the user), internal todo's are solved using tools you guys already have in place.
Sorry. This got longer than i expected. This isn't my normal "It doesn't belong in postbox rant" ... todo's kind of make sense. But REAL todo management should be done outside postbox.
Internally, leverage what you already have going with Topics and use them.
long term, get some APIs going to link into a web service or Things or whatever.
Oh. and add a dedicated search panel while your at it ;-). -
Inappropriate?I believe this gos back the the applescript support in PB.. Or maybe just an API.
