I cannot set outgoing servers for identities; they always use the default SMTP server.

Inappropriate?Hi Oscar,
If your SMTP servers have already been created but aren't getting used, try this:
Tools / Account Settings / Account /
and then choose the outgoing SMTP server to be used for this account from the drop down.
If your SMTP servers have not been created yet then you first need to:
Tools / Account Settings / Outgoing Server (SMTP) and click Add to add a new smtp server.
Thanks again for trying Postbox. -
Furthermore on this, in my case, with a manually configured IMAP account, i don't even have an Option to "ADD" a new SMTP server in the above mentioned settings. All i see in the dropdown menu are 2 already configured SMTP servers (from my .mac and gmail accounts) and the option "Use Default", but no add.
Bummer. Can't add a custom SMTP Server on accounts configured via "Add Account -> Other email account". -
Stefan, you have to go to Tools > Account Settings and select the last option, called "Outgoing Server (SMTP)", from the left sidebar. Then you will be able to add and edit outgoing servers. -
thanks for helping Stefan out Oscar! We appreciate the help! -
Ah, ok. Got it. Thanks a lot Óscar! I was looking for SMTP Servers under my IMAp Account. Now i see the entry in the Sidebar just below "Local Folders". Great!
Allthough, from a UX standpoint, i'd add an option to ADD a SMTP Server under each account as usually, SMTP Servers are tied to Accounts. E.G. it is better to use the Gmail SMTP Server for a Gmail account (SPF etc.). -
Inappropriate?Hi Scott,
Thanks for your reply. I have no problem setting up a SMTP server for my account. But I cannot do the same for identities into that account. What I do:
Tools > Account Settings > Manage Identities
then I select the one I want to configure, click 'Edit' and choose the outgoing server from the drop list. However, when I send an e-mail from that identity, Postbox uses the default SMTP server, not the one I selected.
(A bit later...)
Well, I have been doing some tests. And the problem just happens for the first identity. It is only possible to set the default SMTP server as outgoing server. The other identities works well.
Thunderbird behaves alike. But I don't know why. For me it's quite confusing. Thank you anyway, Scott.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I also use Apple Mail and there I alwas has the choise to change outgoing server when I compose a new mail. This is useful when I sometime use the cable at home and sometime use my 3G modem. How do I do this choise on this program?
