Will you be adding PGP support? Perhaps via http://enigmail.mozdev.org/home/index...

Inappropriate?I need PGP/GPG support too!
Hope this is an option in the near future. -
Inappropriate?Justin,
Eventually, we'll have a way to extend Postbox at which point PGP support could be added.
But at this time, there is no PGP support.
Thanks for using Postbox,
-Seth

But what about being able to use the Enigmail extension that allows GnuPG support in ThunderBird. I can certainly understand that PGP support would be an entirely different ball game. -
Inappropriate? This option is definitely a must have for me.
Encryption is THE difference with webmail apps. For me, this is a crutial problem.
And of course encryption with Postbox must be compatible with encryption with Thunderbird (Enigmail/Gnupgp)
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Support for GnuPG (like enigmail for Thunderbird) would also be a critical issue for me when considering switching my email client.
-
Inappropriate?PGP support is a must for a serious email client.
I'm very pleased with the Postbox beta, but can not make it my main email client until it supports at least PGP decryption. For now I've to stick with Mail + GPGMail extension.

Inappropriate?I agree
-
Inappropriate?Same for me, as my company often sends important data by mail, GPG/PGP is vital.
And please if you implement it your own way support 'gpg.conf'-groups :-)

Inappropriate?Count me in. The only reason that I'm entertaining the use of PostBox, is the promise of eventually including extensions support. The first extension I'd wish to add is Enigmail which would give me GnuPG support!
-
Inappropriate?A small compagny I work with is considering the possibility not to choose microsoft solution in their IT. When I talk about PostBox, the first question they ask is : what about encryption, what about security, what about the possibilty to communicate encrypted with other client ?
So the question about PGP support is even more important that what I thought 3 months ago.
Please, make it happen. :)
I’m very frustrated

Inappropriate?Postbox is quite nice, but PGP/GPG support is vital for me to being able to use postbox any longer. That would be sad, because I like the way postbox works.
I’m not happy
-
Inappropriate?I will buy Postbox "ONLY" if it has PGP/GPG support. Otherwise I will keep using Thunderbird. PGP/GPG support is a vital tool.
-
Inappropriate?Same here, if you have PGP-Support, I'll buy it.
-
Inappropriate?Same thing here in France, I'll surely buy Postbox if it can integrate gpg signing/crypto ;)

Inappropriate?I agree, no GPG is a showstopper.
Many of us really need encryption. And, as stated above, the Enigmail developer doesn't seem interested, so what now?

The links you gave do not work. :( -
Inappropriate?trying again with fixed links...
Hi Guys,
We've put together a test version of enigmail for Postbox. Looking for a couple volunteers familiar with enigmail to kick the tires on it. If it looks good we'll push it out to folks.
You can get the test add-on here:
Enigmail for Postbox - Mac OS X
Enigmail for Postbox - Windows -
I got the extension and attempted an install. However, I got an incompatible extension error while trying to install on PostBox v1.0b16 -
Your build is out of date. Help / Check for Updates.
It's only compatible with 1.0.0.
Cheers,
-Scott -
Lin here:
Thanks, I will give this a long look and test this weekend, get back to when I know more.
Thank you again for supporting encryption and authentication on Post Box. -
Thanks Lin. I look forward to your testing feedback this weekend. If all looks good we'll get it up on http://postbox-inc.com/extensions -
I'm having problems downloading it... -
Inappropriate?Ok. I did an update before and thought b16 was the latest. I ran the updater again and installed v1.0.
Enigmail installed OK. It seems to be working too. The only thing is that the when you wish to see the details behind a signature check, it initially appears a drop down at the top of the window, but before it fully drops into view it disappears and reappears as a popup over the center of the Window.
This is just a small cosmetic issue. Otherwise, so far so good. :) -
Thanks aimlink. I really appreciate you helping us shake this out. I'll see if the drop down issue is unique to Postbox or in enigmail. -
The pleasure is mine and thanks for responding with the release of this important addon. -
aimlink, I forgot to ask, did you test the windows or the mac version? -
Sorry... the Mac version. :) -
it seems to work alright (mac version) -
Inappropriate?Conversation mode of Postbox is not at all prepared to handle signed or encrypted msgs that are part of a conversation:
signed msgs e.g. are not recognized as such by enigmail and GnuPG stuff is shown by Postbox instead...
this is a problem that enigmail alone probably cannot solve and which has to be handled in part by Postbox itself...
(Windows Version of Postbox) -
I briefly tested the Windows-version and noticed the same thing. One single message is ok, but when you respond to that and they are presented together as a conversation it breaks down. Disabling conversations with View->Show Conversations works, but at the same time destroys much of what's magic about Postbox.
Good work all the same! At least I no longer need a Thunderbird-install to handle the occasional encrypted message. -
Inappropriate?enigmail is up on http://postbox-inc.com/extensions now for Postbox 1.0.1:
http://getsatisfaction.com/postbox/to... -
Inappropriate? Thanks a lot for adding this now. But there's one more thing...
The raw content of a PGP encrypted message may start with these lines:
-----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE-----
Charset: ISO-8859-1
Version: GnuPG v1.4.8 (Darwin)
Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/
Now the URL (enigmail.mozdev.org) is listed as a link in the right column of the message display but the links from the decrypted message content are not listed. Maybe the plugin can somehow influence the display of the right col AFTER the message has been decrypted. -
hmm that shouldn't be. Thanks LB. We'll make sure we push an update of enigmail before 1.0.2 goes out the door. -
Thanks again LB. This should be fixed now. Try going to Tools / Addons / check for updates with the 1.0.2 build.
-Scott -
Thank YOU Scott. The Enigmail add-on now works great with Postbox 1.0.2 build.
